Job Description

Company Overview C&J Equipment Manufacturing is a full-service manufacturing company established in 1978. We are dedicated to producing high-quality equipment and fostering a dynamic, safety-focused work environment for our team members. We are growing and seeking a driven, hands-on Production Manager who is also a licensed Journeyman Electrician to lead operations for a dedicated product line. This is a high-impact role responsible for establishing, optimizing, and scaling production while leading a team of approximately 35 employees. Position Summary The Production Manager will take ownership of a specific product line, overseeing all aspects of its production operations and supervising a team of approximately 35 employees. This role requires a strong production leadership background as well as active journeyman-level electrical knowledge and experience. The Production Manager will work closely with engineering, project management, and leadership to stand up processes, build team capability, and ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality output as the product line grows. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a build-and-improve environment and has the electrical expertise needed to support production operations. Key Responsibilities Lead all production activities for a designated product line from launch through full-scale production Directly supervise, coach, and develop a team of approximately 35 production employees Apply journeyman-level electrical knowledge to support production quality, safety, troubleshooting, and process improvement Develop and implement production processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures Partner with engineering and project management to transition products from design into production Follow production schedules and ensure alignment with project timelines and customer demands Monitor performance metrics and drive continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, and throughput Identify and resolve production challenges, bottlenecks, electrical issues, and resource constraints Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, electrical codes, and company policies Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure material readiness Support scaling efforts as the product line expands Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement Qualifications Valid Journeyman Electrician license required 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, production, electrical work, or a related industrial environment At least 3 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred Experience managing production teams Strong understanding of electrical systems, production processes, workflow design, and quality control Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation Proven leadership ability with experience building and developing teams Experience with ERP systems and production reporting tools preferred Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement practices is a plus Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, electrical licensing, and experience Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on the production floor Frequent movement between office and manufacturing areas Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, electrical systems, and varying temperatures Use of required personal protective equipment, including PPE required for electrical and production areas
