In addition, this working supervisor will also manage the team, the quality of work, and their productivity. This position is also responsible for keeping all equipment within the department maintained and efficiently running.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for all lead/department activities and performance. Accountable for the Department's productivity, quality, and efficiency. Responsible for meeting daily production quotas. Responsible for Powder organization, and inventory count. Measure and monitor performance and adjust people and processes to meet production goals. Plan and acquire additional resources such as personnel, tools, equipment, etc. Monitor equipment for maintenance needs and follow through to service completion. Validate and sign off for timesheets in Replicon or contract labor service companies. Responsible for training team on assigned areas, skills, development plans, and company policy. Consults with Engineering and Planning, on BOM (bill of material) routing configurations to improve manufacturing efficiency. Consult with Logistics to obtain BOL (bill of lading) and shipping documents. Works with engineers to discuss project specifications, pre-fabrication opportunities, and other potential cost-saving ideas. Plans with the supply chain to ensure all materials are delivered on time and in full to the work centers. Analyzes and reports on KPIs (key process indicators). Identifies and executes continuous improvement projects in assigned areas. Works with Human Resources to select, interview, and hire personnel and brings personnel issues to HR's attention. Be engaged in the process to train, set the pace, and share technical leadership with the assigned team. Own the flow; take action to keep parts flowing between supplier and customer departments. Maintains the 7S method in the department. Obeying all company, OSHA, and other state and federal agencies' safety regulations. Works on work orders (10-20%, ~4 hrs /wk) to run equipment and process parts. Be engaged in the process to train, set the pace, and share technical leadership with the assigned team.
Requirements:
Demonstrating Powder knowledge of: Prepping parts. Packaging parts. Powdering parts. Sandblasting parts. Advanced level blueprint understanding/reading. High-level machine/technology aptitude. Good work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to perform repetitive tasks for team success. Good communication and interpersonal relationship skills. Flexibility and ability to adjust to customer requirements and changing environment. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Possess basic math skills, with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Possess adequate clerical skills to update records. Ability to properly maintain an organized working environment. Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English. Flexible and adaptable to new tasks/duties.
Skills and Education/Experience:
3+ years of forklift experience. High school graduate or
GED. 3-5
years of supervisory experience. Two- or four-year degree preferred. OSHA, CPI, and LEAN certifications are a plus. 3-5 years working in Powder Coating. Powder certifications preferred. Driver's license and clean driving record. Minimum of 1-3 years previous experience in a metal fabrication shop working with similar equipment and materials is preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Manufacturing environment with intermittent noise and long periods of standing in a warehouse-type physical space, with exposure to noise and dust in hot and cold climates. Ability to stand, bend, squat, twist, and kneel. Ability to move and/or lift objects up to 20 pounds. Normal vision (with or without corrective lenses) and normal hearing (with or without corrective hearing aids). Must wear steel-toed shoes.
