Job Description

Position Summary The Lead Sign Fabricator is responsible for overseeing daily fabrication activities within the sign shop while actively participating in the production of signage. This role ensures fabrication projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and according to company quality and safety standards. The Lead Fabricator provides technical guidance to fabrication staff, coordinates workflow, and helps maintain production schedules to support installation deadlines. Key Responsibilities Fabrication Leadership Lead and support the fabrication team in the production of all types of signage including illuminated signs, cabinets, channel letters, dimensional lettering, and architectural signage. Assign daily fabrication tasks based on production schedules and project priorities. Provide hands-on guidance and training to fabricators and production staff. Ensure fabrication processes meet company quality standards and client specifications. Assist with troubleshooting fabrication challenges and recommending solutions. Sign Fabrication & Assembly Fabricate and assemble signage using materials such as aluminum, acrylic, PVC, steel, wood, and vinyl. Interpret shop drawings, work orders, and design files to ensure accurate production. Build complex or high-value signage projects requiring advanced fabrication skills. Assemble illuminated signs including LED lighting systems and wiring components when applicable. Equipment Operation & Oversight Operate and oversee fabrication equipment including: CNC routers Panel saws and table saws Hand routers and power tools Welders and metal fabrication tools Ensure equipment is operated safely and properly by all team members. Coordinate routine maintenance and report equipment issues. Quality Control Perform final quality inspections before signs move to paint, vinyl, or installation stages. Verify measurements, materials, finishes, and structural integrity of fabricated components. Ensure all products meet company standards and installation requirements. Production Coordination Work closely with the Design, Print, and Installation teams to ensure smooth project flow. Review work orders and fabrication drawings before production begins. Communicate production delays, material shortages, or technical issues to the Production Manager. Shop Organization & Safety Enforce shop safety procedures and OSHA compliance. Maintain an organized and efficient fabrication workspace. Ensure proper use of PPE and safe equipment operation. Assist with inventory monitoring of fabrication materials and supplies. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in sign fabrication or related manufacturing field. Strong experience with illuminated signs, channel letters, cabinets, and dimensional signage. Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and production files. Advanced knowledge of fabrication tools, equipment, and materials. Strong leadership and team coordination skills. Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in a production environment. Physical Requirements Lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs. Stand for extended periods during production shifts. Frequent bending, reaching, and tool use. Ability to safely operate shop machinery and fabrication equipment.
