At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars. Could you be the full-time onsite Serial Test Manager in Plattsburgh, NY, US we're looking for? Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your leadership and technical expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You'll work alongside resilient and adaptable teammates.
You'll ensure the seamless handover of trains from manufacturing to testing, driving quality, cost, and delivery (QCD) commitments while meeting customer requirements. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across the business (Industrial Quality, Project T&C Managers, Production Line Managers, Engineering, and Manufacturing), manage testing workloads to align with site capacity, and foster a culture of safety and excellence—and much more. Managing an electrical testing organization - testers, test engineer(s), and Production supervisors/team leads across shifts. Directly managing managers/supervisors (production managers) and a small number of individual contributors (e.g., professional test engineer). Owning planning and delivery of test schedules, timelines, and deadlines across shifts; ensuring on-time execution of test programs. Ensuring training, competency development, and performance management for test technicians and team leads (introduce and enforce one‑on‑ones, development plans, coaching). Improving and standardizing test processes and expectations, with a focus on safety and compliance in electrical functional testing. Driving system integration and application-level troubleshooting practices to ensure test readiness and quality. Coordinating with other site functions and external partners as needed (shift coverage, engineering, operations). Participating in candidate selection/interviewing and development planning for internal candidates; managing communications regarding recruitment decisions. All about you We value passion and attitude over experience. That's why we don't expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we've listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role: Bachelor's degree in a technical field (electrical engineering preferred), Minimum 8-10 years' experience in Testing & Commissioning of Electrical, Control, onboard communications & network systems within process industry or factory automation, Minimum 5 years' experience in direct team (people) management, Knowledge of high-risk activities related to electrical work and EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) requirements, Familiarity with key electrical processes such as earthing & bonding, cabling, protection, and instrumentation, Strong leadership and result-driven mindset, Ability to foster communication between multiple stakeholders, Negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in complex environments, Capacity to work across sites/functions in a multi-cultural environment, Team spirit and adaptability to manage conflicts and disputes effectively. Things you'll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey - the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You'll also: Work with testing teams, Production Managers, and key stakeholders across multiple functions, including Industrial Quality, Project T&C Managers, and Engineering teams, Progress towards mastering leadership, decision-making in complex environments, and fostering communication in a multicultural and multi-functional setting, Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries, Contribute to innovative projects, Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, 401k). The actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, and qualifications. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you'll be proud. If you're up for the challenge, we'd love to hear from you!
