EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
: Associate's degree in Business Management, Operations Management or related field preferred; equivalent combination of High School or GED education with supervisory experience considered. • Minimum 2 years experience in manufacturing leadership and or process improvement roles leading or supervising people. • Injection and custom molding experience preferred 1.0 DUTIES /
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Leadership and Oversight:
Lead, coach, and support production employees to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and production goals. Demonstrate strong leadership presence on the floor by setting an example for professionalism, accountability, and teamwork. Start each shift with effective shift meetings that set expectations, align priorities, and energize the team around a common cause. Supervise setting up the area for production, making sure that job assignments and instructions are understood, and that enough quantities of materials and supplies are available. Walk the floor at shift end to ensure the next shift is set up for success. Foster a positive, respectful work environment by demonstrating empathy, active listening, and strong interpersonal skills. Identify training needs working with trainers to instruct and train new employees in the performance of current and new responsibilities ensuring required documentation. Support upskilling and cross-training initiatives to strengthen team capability and engagement. Coach and mentor Group Leads to provide regular performance feedback and relevant communications as to the overall performance of the shift. Establish strong relationships and standard process expectations to drive positive results.
Production Process Execution:
Communicate clearly and professionally with peers, and leadership through in person discussions, emails, and written documentation. Meet daily with Production Supervisors and Group Leads of the next shift discussing current production issues or changes for a positive hand-off. Oversee production performance to schedule, resource allocation, and risk mitigation to ensure production is completed efficiently and effectively. Follow the production schedule to set up work by priority and job specifications. Monitor employee performance to correspond with the workflow to meet due dates. Anticipate production needs and contact appropriate personnel to carry out the changes necessary to maintain an efficient level of production. Help resolve set up problems. Continually assess the limitations of equipment capacity and materials supply to make adjustments to associates and equipment for optimization of manufacturing output. Ensure that the equipment is receiving the proper preventative maintenance service and care. Notify maintenance to make adjustments or repairs when necessary.
Standards and Documentation:
Complete required paperwork and documentation related to department activities and operations. Perform all IQMS functions related to production and have a thorough understanding of the transactions (material flow, tracking and movement, scanning, reports, data accuracy, reporting, monitoring, and recognizing incorrect data, etc.) Make corrections as needed to ensure accuracy of the data provided. Champion documentation best practices to maintain revision control and changes to ensure consistent systems across all shifts. Ensure production processes meet quality standards and are aligned with customer requirements, delivering consistent, defect-free parts. Conduct investigations related to safety incidents or near misses throughout the plant and provide documentation to the EHS Manager and Human Resources. Enforces company policies with fairness and consistency by administering corrective actions in accordance with employment laws; develops coaching and corrective action documentation, identifies performance gaps, unprofessional behaviors and supports improvement through structured follow-up and encouragement.
Operational Support:
Serve as the escalation point for complex equipment issues to reduce recurring downtime. Support collaboration with the maintenance and production team to diagnose root causes utilizing problem solving methods to support long-term fixes Partners with the quality team to ensure quality standards are current, clearly communicated, and consistently applied, and to ensure regular quality inspections are completed. Collaborates with Business Unit Managers, Maintenance, IT, and Scheduling to ensure equipment solutions align with production goals and plant capabilities.
Continuous Improvement:
Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and standardization. Drives continuous improvement idea generation with the production team and supports the proper documentation creation and follows up on the implementation of their ideas. Support cost reduction, safety improvement, process innovation, and efficiency initiatives. Other Duties as Assigned 2.0 REQUIRED
