Position Purpose:
Responsible for the allocation of staffing resources to support planned production levels, while following policies and procedures. Manage Production work areas (Fab or Assembly) and supervise hourly/salary team members to achieve company goals.
Essential Functions:
Under the direction of the Production Manager, assists with the following Operations Supervisor responsibilities: Safety Ensure Employee safety by ensuring all safety devices are in use, the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is always worn, and safety rules/policies/practices are followed. Report all accidents / near misses to the Production Manager and Safety representative within 24 hours. Participate in the completion of the accident investigation / report. Ensure Employees within the assigned production department attend all safety related training events. Supervision and Leadership Provides supervision to hourly and salary Employees on assigned shift within the assigned department. Manage assigned production department time sheets, vacation scheduling and payroll sign off. Act as back up for time sheets and payroll sign off in the absence of other supervisors as needed. Ensures compliance to the Employee handbook, Boler Code of Business Conduct, and all other policies and procedures. Conduct or direct daily shift meetings to communicate safety, quality, shift expectations, production levels, delivery performance, overtime, upcoming events, etc.… Supervise daily staffing, output levels, and the production of parts to meet or exceed planned productivity levels. Motivate, provide clear direction and set expectations for new and existing hourly, salary and contract personnel. Maintain 5S initiatives within assigned department. Actively act as supervisor on opposite shifts to ensure supervisory coverage as needed Training Ensure that all hourly, salary and contract personnel have the required training and tools to meet operational needs. Manage and oversee the training process and associated documentation. Update and maintain work instructions and training guides. Directs cross training initiatives of the department Operations Teach and champion inventory control techniques through the organization. Participate in process improvements, root cause analysis, continuous improvement activity and drive corrective actions within the plant regarding safety, quality, productivity, delivery and cost. Support shift end reports as they pertain to daily operations. Assist with implementing and sustaining countermeasure activity. Support departmental escalation policy. Work in conjunction with other Supervisors to fully understand the process and how to provide support when and where needed. Plan and execute production schedules, coordinates planned equipment downtime, and supervisor daily manpower requirements per demand. Monitor quality using visual techniques, required in process inspection checks, use of measurement tools, PPM analysis, etc… Monitors process time, MRP report output, raw material usage, equipment performance / PM compliance, in process inspections and submits reports as required. Other duties as assigned. Education and Training High School diploma or GED required Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or production environment required Demonstrated leadership skills required Supervisory experience preferred Excellent communication skills Results-oriented individual possessing analytical skills and demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize projects. Demonstrated ability to execute multiple responsibilities, projects, and activities Demonstrated ability to lead a group of people towards common goals Computer literate using windows-based software Physical Demands Standing and walking for extended periods of time Computer work Occasional lifting, bending, twisting, turning, push/pull activities Environmental Conditions Exposure to manufacturing and warehouse environments Behavioral Traits Accountability
