Job Description The Shift Supervisor will have knowledge of multiple job functions and will support operations in all Production functions as needed to maintain efficient, high quality and safe operations. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent 2 years on job experience with a progressive heavy industrial organization; previous or proven leadership experience Job-Specific Knowledge and Skills Willing to work overtime or on other shifts as necessary; excellent understanding of housekeeping and safety principles; Above average work history and attendance; understanding of PC's is preferred; Understanding of alloying; in depth understanding of process flow in production areas. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain knowledge of all critical processes by rotating through critical processes on a regular rotation according to company expectations in order to provide assistance at critical times in the production flow to improve production pace and to fill in on shift for PTO coverage or other objectives as needed. Areas include but are not limited to: charging, casting, saw, alloying, scrap calculator, and leadership Facilitate development and training of the crew according to company standards by training and filling in as appropriate in order to have a lean, responsive and knowledgeable workforce Performs supervisory duties according to company standards Provides a technical and leadership example according to the company expectation in order to build a lean, responsive and knowledgeable workforce Report and respond when appropriate to deviations, discrepancies or non-conforming material based on departmental procedure in order for the Production team to make corrections or adjustments to processes Apply and provide accountability of all safety rules, participation in safety practices, including LOTO and wearing of PPE according to company standards in order to facility a safe working environment. Assist management with communication and compliance of company strategic initiatives Other duties as assigned Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Frequent exposure to molten metal at temperatures reaching 1300 degrees F. Frequent exposure to extreme ambient temperatures depending on the season. Frequent exposure to overhead loads. Frequent exposure to possible pinch points. Frequent exposure to loud noise. Frequent exposure to possible upset conditions (explosions) Frequent forklift and pay loader operation. High frequency of visual monitoring of sawing processes. High frequency of visual monitoring for quality defects. Low frequent operation of overhead crane. High frequency of visual monitoring of HMI panels and PLC driven panels. High frequency of audio monitoring of saw operation. Frequent pushing of metal along the transfer trough. Visual monitoring of scrap conditions/types with high frequency. Frequent data entry of necessary production information. Frequent lifting and throwing of alloy additions into holder/troughing up to 25 lb increments. Frequent cleaning of trough and SNIF. High frequency of visual monitoring of casting processes. Frequent climbing over 4 feet. Frequent use of raised maintenance platform over 4 feet. Low frequency of confined space entry.
