Production Supervisor Job Description The Production Supervisor leads day-to-day operations in a manufacturing environment, overseeing production activities, supervising employees, and ensuring products meet quality and scheduling requirements. This role manages staffing and training, coordinates equipment maintenance, and supports continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity. Responsibilities Supervise production employees, including hiring, retention, performance reviews, coaching, and discipline in accordance with company policies. Provide training and cross-training to employees to ensure they can safely and effectively perform their duties and support flexible staffing across the department. Coordinate maintenance activities and preventive maintenance (PMs) for production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain safe, efficient operations. Execute the production schedule according to the scheduler's specifications, ensuring that daily and weekly output targets are met. Ensure the quality of all products produced by monitoring processes, performing quality checks, and addressing nonconformances promptly. Verify proper scanning and tracking of materials and products by coil personnel and truck drivers to maintain accurate records and traceability. Conduct orientation for new employees, introducing them to production processes, safety procedures, and workplace expectations. Manage inventory within the production area, including monitoring stock levels, coordinating material usage, and supporting accurate inventory records. Apply lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving techniques to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall production performance. Promote a safe and organized work environment by reinforcing safety practices, ensuring proper use of equipment, and maintaining clean work areas. Essential Skills 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment. 1-2 years of supervisory experience leading production or operations teams. Demonstrated production supervision and production management experience. Hands-on experience in manufacturing or production, preferably involving steel or metal processes. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and the ability to apply them in a production setting. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop employees. Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions. Ability to perform walking off and on for 4-6 hours per day within the production area. Experience ensuring product quality and performing routine quality checks. Ability to coordinate equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance activities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in steel or metal manufacturing environments. Familiarity with CNC equipment, saws, and plasma cutting operations. Exposure to gearboxes and related mechanical systems used in manufacturing equipment. Experience in inventory management within a production or warehouse environment. Experience working with scheduling systems or production planning tools. Work Environment This role operates in a manufacturing environment with a shift schedule of 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM. The position requires frequent walking off and on for 4-6 hours per day within the production area, around equipment such as CNC machines, saws, plasma cutting systems, and gearboxes. The environment involves active production operations, where employees work around machinery, materials, and inventory, following safety procedures and using appropriate protective equipment as required. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Oklahoma City, OK. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $92000.00/yr.
