Food Production Supervisor - Temporary Contract Zephyrus Arts Institute Tulsa, OK Job Details Contract From $143 a day 19 hours ago Qualifications Pre-cooking preparation Teamwork Food hygiene Shift management Meal preparation Full Job Description This is a temporary contract position from June 19th to July 21. Position Structure The Food Production Supervisor role may be filled by multiple individuals throughout the season. Only one Food Production Supervisor will be assigned at a time during a given meal service or operational period. Individuals may be scheduled based on availability, location, and operational needs. Position Summary The Food Production Supervisor oversees the preparation and service of meals for Zephyrus Drum & Bugle Corps during rehearsals, camps, and tour stops. This role leads the kitchen during assigned meal periods and ensures that meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and according to the planned menu. The Food Production Supervisor works closely with the Foodservice Director, Tour Director, and foodservice volunteers to ensure timely meal service for members and staff. This role operates within a youth-centered performing arts environment and supports the mission of Zephyrus Arts Institute as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Primary Responsibilities Kitchen Leadership Lead food preparation and meal service during assigned shifts. Ensure menus provided by the Foodservice Director are executed correctly. Direct volunteers assisting with meal preparation and serving. Maintain organized kitchen workflow during food production. Meal Preparation & Service Oversee preparation of meals for members and staff. Monitor portioning and meal service lines. Ensure meals are served on schedule based on rehearsal and tour timelines. Support bulk cooking, assembly, and distribution of meals. Food Safety, Sanitation & Allergen Management Maintain safe food handling practices and kitchen sanitation standards. Monitor food storage, temperature control, and cleanliness of work areas. Ensure proper cleaning of equipment and preparation areas following meals. Follow all allergen handling protocols and standard operating procedures established by the Foodservice Director, including proper labeling, separation, and communication of allergen information to volunteers and serving staff. Maintain and provide all required allergen documentation and SOPs for assigned shifts. Conduct on-site audits of allergen compliance during food preparation and service, reporting any concerns or deviations to the Foodservice Director and Tour Director. Kitchen Setup & Breakdown Assist with kitchen setup at rehearsal sites and housing locations. Ensure equipment, serving lines, and food stations are organized and functional. Coordinate cleanup and breakdown following meal service. Volunteer Support Provide clear direction to foodservice volunteers assisting with meal preparation. Maintain a safe, organized, and collaborative kitchen environment. Ethical & Youth Protection Standards The Food Production Supervisor must adhere to all Zephyrus Arts Institute policies including Conflict of Interest, Code of Conduct, and Child Protection policies. This role operates within a youth-centered educational environment and must prioritize member safety, professionalism, and organizational integrity. All individuals in this role are required to: Complete and maintain a current SafeSport certification prior to engaging with members or staff, and keep certification up to date throughout the season. Successfully complete a background check as a condition of engagement, in accordance with Zephyrus Arts Institute's Background Check Policy. A copy of all applicable Zephyrus Arts Institute policies and standard operating procedures will be provided upon engagement. All individuals in this role are responsible for reviewing, understanding, and following established organizational procedures. Performance Expectations Ensure meals are prepared and served safely and on schedule. Maintain clean and organized kitchen environments. Demonstrate leadership and effective coordination with volunteers. Follow menus and operational plans provided by the Foodservice Director. Adhere to all allergen handling protocols and maintain required documentation for each shift. Conduct on-site allergen compliance audits and promptly report any deviations. Support a positive and collaborative environment within foodservice operations. Physical & Work Environment Expectations During rehearsals and tour, the Food Production Supervisor should expect: Extended periods standing and working in kitchen environments. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and mobile kitchen setups. Lifting and moving food supplies or kitchen equipment up to approximately 50 pounds. Early morning and evening meal preparation schedules. Shared lodging environments during tour assignments. Qualifications Required Ability to lead meal preparation for large groups Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work in fast-paced kitchen environments Availability during scheduled rehearsal or tour periods Current SafeSport certification (or ability to obtain prior to start) Ability to pass a background check Preferred Experience in foodservice, catering, or institutional kitchens Familiarity with food safety practices, allergen management, and sanitation standards Experience working with youth programs, camps, or performing arts organizations
