About the
Role:
The Forming Shift Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the daily operations of the forming department within a glass manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for ensuring that production targets are met efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The supervisor will lead and motivate a team of operators, fostering a collaborative environment that supports continuous improvement and operational excellence. They will also coordinate with maintenance and quality control teams to minimize downtime and resolve production issues promptly. Ultimately, the role ensures that the forming process runs smoothly during their shift, contributing directly to the overall success and productivity of the manufacturing plant.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a forming operator in a glass manufacturing plant. At least 1 year of supervisory or 2 years of team lead experience. Strong understanding of production processes and equipment used in forming operations. Basic knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance in manufacturing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in manufacturing, engineering, or related field. Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies. Familiarity with computerized production tracking systems. Previous experience working in a unionized environment.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate the activities of the forming shift team to meet production schedules and quality standards. Monitor equipment performance and production processes, identifying and addressing any issues to minimize downtime. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment. Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to enhance their skills and performance. Collaborate with maintenance, quality assurance, and other departments to support continuous improvement initiatives. Candidates must be available to work both day and evening shifts including some weekends and holidays. Company offers a competitive compensation package with benefits.
