Dura-Bond Pipe Manufacturing Steelton PA Position Summary The Swing shift (2-week rotation, 4am-2pm, 2pm-midnight) Repair Bay Floor Supervisor is responsible for leading all repair bay operations within a DSAW pipe manufacturing environment. This role oversees weld repair, inspection coordination, grinding, and rework processes while managing hourly employees in a high-production, industrial setting. The supervisor ensures safety, quality, and throughput targets are consistently met. Key Responsibilities Supervise and lead repair bay personnel (welders, grinders, material handlers, inspectors) Coordinate repair activities for DSAW pipe including weld defects, coating damage, and dimensional corrections Prioritize workload based on production demands and quality hold points Ensure compliance with all safety standards, including lockout/tagout, PPE, and hot work procedures Work closely with QA/QC to address non-conformances and ensure proper documentation and repair procedures Monitor productivity, downtime, and repair cycle times; drive continuous improvement Train, coach, and hold employees accountable for performance, attendance, and safety Communicate effectively with 1st shift, operations, and plant leadership to ensure smooth shift transitions Troubleshoot equipment and workflow issues within the repair bay Maintain accurate shift reports, repair logs, and labor tracking Required Experience 5+ years in heavy manufacturing , preferably pipe, steel, or plate fabrication Prior supervisory experience over hourly shop-floor employees Direct experience with: Weld repair processes (SAW/DSAW preferred) Grinding, gouging, and rework operations Working with NDT/inspection teams (UT, RT, visual) Proven ability to manage industrial workforce environments (attendance issues, productivity, safety enforcement) Preferred Qualifications Experience in pipe manufacturing or API-spec production Familiarity with welding procedures (WPS/PQR) and repair standards Strong understanding of quality systems and non-conformance handling Experience working in a union environment (if applicable) Leadership Expectations Hands-on, visible presence on the floor (not an office supervisor) Firm but fair—able to manage a tough workforce while maintaining respect Strong decision-maker under pressure in a fast-paced production setting Focused on accountability, safety, and results Work Schedule Swing Shift Overtime and weekend work as required to support production needs What Success Looks Like Reduced repair backlog and faster turnaround times Improved quality acceptance rates Safe, disciplined, and productive repair bay team Clear communication between shifts and departments
