This role is responsible for daily crew leadership, productivity, safety, and quality, ensuring work is completed on time, within scope, and to Primoris standards. General Requirements Practice and enforce all safety rules and jobsite safety policies. Follow and clearly communicate verbal and written instructions. Ensure safe use of hand and power tools by all crew members. Report to and assist the Superintendent or immediate supervisor as needed. Perform and oversee quality work in line with project specifications. Maintain accountability for tools and materials at the end of each shift. Work effectively as part of a team and foster a positive, productive crew environment. Key Responsibilities Set daily work objectives that align with the project schedule and clearly communicate them to the crew, encouraging their input and engagement. Assist the Supervisor/Superintendent in identifying and resolving quality control issues on job and plant sites. Assist with interviewing and selecting new hires when requested. Support the company's EEO/AA goals by helping identify and develop qualified minorities, females, and veterans for employment, training, and promotion. Coordinate with the Superintendent to schedule and request needed personnel for timely project completion. Recommend improvements to methods, schedules, and procedures to increase efficiency and quality. Exercise authority to dismiss laborers and operators when necessary, in accordance with company guidelines and in coordination with supervision. Provide input on material suppliers and trucking needs, in coordination with the Superintendent. Assume responsibility for the quality of workmanship produced by the crew. Train laborers and craftsmen in the basic skills required to perform tasks with minimal supervision. Inspect materials upon delivery to verify they meet quality standards and specifications; sign and code delivery tickets. Ensure materials are delivered to the construction site per established agreements and in a timely fashion. Ensure contract specifications and company quality standards are consistently met. Maintain and promote jobsite safety; enforce safety procedures and correct unsafe behaviors. Review labor reports weekly and address productivity, cost, or staffing issues as needed. Accurately report daily time for crew, equipment, and materials used, as well as quantities of work completed. Report extra work, back charges to subcontractors, and delays caused by owners, utilities, or other third parties. Maintain a working knowledge of construction disciplines, labor relations, cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, engineering drawings, and related documents. Supervise and evaluate craft performance, providing coaching and feedback. Perform other related duties as required by the position or as assigned by supervision. Qualification Standards One (1) to four (4) years of experience in the specified craft, depending on level. Entry‑level to two (2) years of construction, construction engineering, or similar experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity. Ability to pass post‑offer drug/alcohol screening and physical evaluation, as required. Successful completion of company new‑hire orientation requirements. Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of self or others in the workplace. Must meet jobsite safety requirements (e.g., clean shaven, long sleeves, steel‑toe boots, as required by the client). Must use required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, and other equipment as specified. Physical Requirements Comply with company drug and alcohol policies. Able to pass a physical examination, pre‑employment if necessary and as required by the company. Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways. Able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work at elevated heights and in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.). Able to carry up to 50 lbs. of tools and/or materials; seek assistance for items over 50 lbs. per supervisor or safety guidance. Able to stand or walk for long periods of time. Able to work extended hours on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.). Must be clean shaven when required and able to work while wearing a respirator and other PPE.
Work Environment Location:
Industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shops.
Mobility barriers:
Uneven ground levels, obstructed pathways, work performed at low and high elevations, and work in confined areas.
Environmental conditions:
Predominantly outdoor climate; possible exposure to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, varying noise levels from tools and equipment, and potential exposure to chemical substances.
