Job Description

2nd Shift LK Supervisor Position Summary The 2nd Shift LK Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all production, material handling, quality, and operational activities associated with the LK Line during second shift. This position ensures the safe, efficient, and productive operation of the line while maintaining high-quality standards, supporting employee morale, coordinating maintenance activities, and minimizing downtime. The supervisor will lead personnel across the LK Line, Coil Warehouse, and supporting operations to ensure continuous material flow and optimal production performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Production Leadership Supervise daily operations of the LK Line to ensure production goals, quality standards, and efficiency targets are achieved. Monitor line performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and overall operational efficiency. Ensure continuous material flow to prevent downtime caused by material shortages or delayed movement of finished products. Fill in operational roles as needed to maintain production requirements and ensure uninterrupted operations. Monitor Blaster and Shear production activities to ensure production schedules are met. Personnel Supervision Lead and supervise Coil Handlers, Coil Warehouse personnel, OC Clerk, and Middle Crane Operator. Promote a positive work environment and maintain employee morale through effective communication and leadership. Provide direction, coaching, and support to employees to ensure safe and efficient work practices. Ensure employees are actively engaged and working efficiently to support production goals. Material Handling & Inventory Control Oversee coil receiving, storage, and movement from rail cars, barges, and trucks. Ensure all material movements are properly scanned and documented in accordance with company procedures. Verify coils are properly stored and organized within the Coil Warehouse. Coordinate material movement with crane operators and shipping personnel to ensure production lines remain supplied and clear of bottlenecks. Quality Assurance Ensure material is correctly tagged with accurate piece counts, packaging information, and quality identification. Monitor product quality throughout the production process and take corrective action when necessary. Work proactively to identify and implement quality improvements. Maintenance & Equipment Support Assist with maintenance projects involving the LK Line and related equipment. Participate in weekend maintenance activities and shutdown projects as required. Assist with Pro Mic measurements on backup rolls as needed. Enter and maintain equipment information in Historian for: Work Rolls Backup Rolls Shear Blades Support equipment reliability initiatives and coordinate maintenance needs with appropriate personnel. Operational Coordination Work closely with shipping, warehouse, maintenance, and production personnel to ensure efficient plant operations. Ensure material is moved promptly to and from production equipment to eliminate unnecessary downtime. Maintain clear communication between departments regarding production priorities and operational needs. Stay beyond scheduled shifts when necessary to ensure critical work is completed and production requirements are met. Qualifications Required Skills and Abilities Strong leadership and supervisory skills. Ability to motivate employees and maintain a positive work environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency. Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure. Basic computer skills and ability to enter production and maintenance information into company systems. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Equipment Operation Requirements Must be able to safely operate: Overhead Crane Forklift Tow Hoist Yard Dog Work Schedule Requirements Ability to work 8-hour, 10-hour, or 12-hour shifts as required. Ability to work weekends when necessary. Ability to remain on-site beyond scheduled hours to ensure operational needs are met. Physical Requirements Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment. Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and lift as required throughout the shift. Ability to work around moving equipment and heavy materials while following all safety procedures. Key Performance Expectations Maintain safe and efficient LK Line operations. Minimize downtime due to material handling delays. Achieve production and quality targets. Support employee engagement and morale. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities. Ensure accurate inventory tracking and material movement documentation. Maintain effective coordination between production, shipping, warehouse, and maintenance departments.
Pay:
$55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
