Our projects include structural steel erection, stairs, handrails, platforms, and custom fabricated metal systems. We are looking for a dependable, experienced Field Lead Welder to help lead crews in the field while maintaining high standards for quality, productivity, and safety.

Growth opportunities Relaxed atmosphere Safe work environment Team-oriented culture Position Summary The Field Lead Welder is responsible for leading field crews on commercial construction sites while performing hands-on structural and miscellaneous metals installation. This role requires strong welding and ironworking experience, leadership ability, and the capability to coordinate daily tasks efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate field crews on structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and construction documents Perform SMAW welding and structural bolting according to project specifications and applicable codes Plan daily workflow and ensure projects stay on schedule Communicate with project managers, general contractors, crane operators, and crew members Understand and direct proper crane signaling, rigging, and material handling procedures Layout, measure, and verify installation locations and elevations Operate lifts, forklifts, and other jobsite equipment safely and efficiently Inspect completed work to ensure quality and accuracy Train and mentor newer employees in proper installation and safety practices Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite Enforce company safety policies and OSHA compliance standards Qualifications & Skills Proven experience in structural steel erection and miscellaneous metals installation Strong proficiency in SMAW welding, rigging, plasma cutting, fitting, and steel assembly Ability to lead crews and manage work in a fast-paced construction environment Ability to read and interpret blueprints and structural drawings accurately Knowledge of structural steel installation methods and industry standards Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements and safe rigging/lifting practices Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work at heights and perform physically demanding tasks Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred Welding certifications and equipment certifications are a plus Preferred Experience Previous foreman or lead experience in commercial construction Experience coordinating crane picks and sequencing steel erection Experience installing stairs, rails, and miscellaneous metals systems Note This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
