Full Job Description Summary:
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all structural steel erection and related construction activities on assigned projects. Ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Supervises and directs structural steel erection crews, subcontractors, and related personnel on job sites. Ensures all work is performed in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. Coordinates daily activities, schedules, and work sequencing to meet project timelines and milestones. Monitors productivity and adjusts manpower or resources as needed to maintain efficiency. Enforces company safety policies and ensures compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements. Conducts daily safety meetings and jobsite inspections to identify and mitigate hazards. Communicates with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and clients regarding progress, issues, and changes. Reviews and interprets blueprints, shop drawings, and erection plans. Ensure proper use, maintenance, and availability of equipment, tools, and materials. Identifies and resolves field issues, conflicts, or discrepancies in plans. Oversees quality control to ensure structural integrity and adherence to welding and bolting standards. Documents project progress, reports, and field changes. May assist in planning lifts, rigging operations, and crane activities. May participate in project planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Ensure employees perform only work for which they are trained and authorized. May be required to support inspections and ensure compliance with regulatory and client requirements.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional construction or technical training preferred. 10+ years of experience in structural steel erection, with at least 5 years supervisory or leadership experience required. Strong knowledge of structural steel systems, erection methods, and construction practices. Familiarity with safety regulations, including OSHA standards. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Relies on extensive experience, judgment, and established guidelines to accomplish goals.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to reach, stand, walk, use fingers, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see and perform repetitive motion.
Sedentary work:
Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Must be capable of traveling by car or airplane as needed to support business activities.
