Custom Fabricators & Repairs, Inc. is a respected structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabricator that has served the Brazos Valley and surrounding areas for over 30 years. Based in Bryan, Texas, we are an AISC-certified structural steel fabricator providing structural steel fabrication, miscellaneous metals, material sales, custom fabrication, repairs, and job shop services.         Job Summary:
        Detailers at Custom Fabricators & Repairs prepare detailed drawings, models, and fabrication documents for structural steel and miscellaneous metal projects, including stairs, handrails, countertops, and custom fabricated components. Some projects require field verification and measurements by the detailer. Responsibilities may also include BOM data entry, plate and linear nesting, and CNC machine programming.
        Key Performance Objectives:
        • Produce accurate and complete shop, fabrication, and erection drawings with minimal revisions.
        • Deliver detailing packages on schedule to support fabrication and project timelines.
        • Maintain drawing quality and compliance with company, customer, and industry standards.
        • Effectively coordinate with project managers, estimators, shop personnel, and field teams.
        • Identify and resolve constructability and field issues proactively.
        • Maintain organized and accurate project documentation, RFIs, and revisions.
        • Contribute to continuous improvement of detailing standards and workflows.
        Operational Responsibilities:
        • Create 3D models and detailed shop drawings using Autodesk Advance Steel.
        • Produce fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings for structural and miscellaneous steel projects.
        • Review architectural and structural drawings for accuracy and constructability.
        • Perform field measurements and verify existing conditions at job sites.
        • Generate and respond to RFIs.
        • Coordinate with project managers, estimators, shop personnel, and installers.
        • Modify models and drawings based on internal reviews and customer feedback.
        • Maintain compliance with company detailing standards, applicable building codes, AWS welding standards, and safety regulations, including IBC, AISC, ADA, and OSHA requirements.
        Required Qualifications:
        • Demonstrated experience using Autodesk Advance Steel for 3D modeling and production shop drawings in a structural steel detailing environment.
        • 5+ years of detailing, drafting, and checking experience in structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication; or 2+ years of experience combined with a degree in architecture, construction management, civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related field
        • Ability to read structural and architectural drawings
        • Knowledge of fabrication processes and welding symbols
        • Strong communication and organizational skills
        • Can accurately and efficiently complete projects while working closely with our Estimators, Project Managers, and Shop Foremen.
        • Strong problem-solving skills, analysis and critical thinking skills, ability to meet deadlines, be detail-oriented, and possess strong leadership qualities
        • Ability to travel to job sites for field measuring, evaluate field conditions, interact with site supervisors, provide feedback to project managers
        Preferred Qualifications:
        • Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and/or AutoCAD Architecture in a production environment.
        • Experience with Bend-Tech, ProNest, Strumis MRP Software
        • Familiarity with Dragon 400 profiling machine
        • Degree in architecture, engineering, or construction-related field
        • Field measuring and installation experience
        • Hands-on structural steel and sheet metal fabrication experience
