JOB SUMMARY
The Welding Operations Manager is responsible for supervision of shop employees in conjunction with Welding Supervisors in a manufacturing environment, plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities. Supervises personnel to include performance evaluation, training, work allocation, problem resolution, assuring completion of tasks within deadlines, applying disciplinary action when necessary. Coordinates work assignments with Scheduling, Project Planning and Account Managers to ensure that products are completed in a quality controlled timely fashion; schedules and organizes workflow and shop priorities, transfer of materials between departments, and transfer of finished goods. Maintains various communication forms for information regarding product and material information, travelers, work orders, estimates and material identification and locations; prepares monthly reports, as well as ad hoc reports requested. Assures employees accomplish work in accordance with proper practices, policies and specifications and communicates any changes in practices, policies or specifications in a timely manner. Demonstrates and models' behavior supportive of the company's core values (HEART). Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Controls and minimize labor expenses. Promotes and incorporates Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Continuous Improvement in all processes of manufacturing. Participation / attendance at safety meetings and training Timely incident investigations and correction of root causes.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED, plus at least three years of directly related experience in the duties and responsibilities outlined. Minimum of 10 years of welding experience using the FCAW process, including at least five years in a supervisory role. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered, subject to approval by the hiring manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Ability to read and write in English; bilingual (Spanish) is a plus. Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate the operations of a manufacturing/fabrication shop. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Employee development and performance management skills. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Proficiency in computer spreadsheet and database software. Ability to process data and generate formatted reports. Knowledge and/or training in 5S, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies. Supervisory experience in a shop setting preferred; personable with innovative problem-solving skills and a proven track record of practical process experience. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of skilled workers to meet aggressive production goals. Ability to read blueprints and interpret weld symbols. Knowledge of

Structural Steel Welding Code; AWS CWI certification is a plus; familiarity with
CWB W47.1
(Certification of Companies) and W59 (Welded Steel Construction). Knowledge of ASCE 48 (Steel Transmission Structures), TIA-222 (Telecom Structural Standards), AASHTO LTS and LRFD, and ASTM specifications. Familiarity with standard equipment and processes used in the pole manufacturing industry. Ability to create accountability and lead by example.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The selected candidate must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history review. A valid Texas driver's license is required for this position.
