Powder Coating Line Supervisor Superior Tank Co., Inc. (STCI) has been manufacturing and installing a complete line of bolted steel tanks and welded steel storage tanks for the potable water, wastewater, fire protection, rain harvesting and crude oil industries since 1984.

Job Summary:

The Powder Coating Line Supervisor oversees all operations of the Glomar Powder Coating Line, ensuring superior quality, safety, and throughput performance. This role combines strong technical expertise with hands-on leadership to drive consistency, reliability, and continuous improvement across all powder coating processes. The Supervisor leads a high-performing team, establishes clear production standards, and ensures alignment with company goals through disciplined communication and collaboration. This position requires proven experience in powder coating operations, leadership in manufacturing environments, and the ability to manage workflow, quality control, and preventive maintenance in a fast-paced production setting. Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the powder coat line, including pretreatment, coating application, curing, and unloading.
• Adjust coating parameters (guns, ovens, conveyors) to meet film thickness and cure specifications.
• Train, mentor, and develop team members to build a culture of accountability, skill growth, and engagement.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 6S, Kaizen) focused on quality, uptime, and material efficiency.
• Track and analyze performance metrics — including downtime, reject rates, and coating thickness — to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Fabrication teams to resolve bottlenecks and enhance equipment reliability.
• Ensure all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards are followed without compromise.
• Oversee labor utilization and material usage to achieve production targets within budget.
• Partner with management to set and achieve departmental KPIs.
• Ensure alignment with the shipping schedule to maintain on-time delivery.
• Manage attendance, shift transitions, and performance documentation with professionalism and fairness.
• Communicate proactively with leadership regarding production updates, challenges, and improvement opportunities. Skills and Qualifications
• Minimum 5+ years' experience in powder coating or metal finishing, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Deep understanding of powder coating systems, including electrostatic spray, reclaim, pretreatment, and curing ovens.
• Proven ability to adjust and troubleshoot coating equipment for optimal performance.
• Demonstrated success in implementing Lean or 6S initiatives.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and root-cause investigation skills.
• Excellent communication skills — both upward (management) and lateral (team and peer departments).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume production environment.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
• Capable of working extended hours as needed to meet production goals.
