Fabrication Supervisor-Bilingual Hawkins Personnel Group - 4.1 San Antonio, TX Job Details Full-time $30 - $40 an hour 18 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Life insurance Referral program Qualifications Teamwork Forklift Schedule management Production planning Industrial equipment Full Job Description Position Summary The Fabrication/Weld Foreman is responsible for supervising daily shop fabrication and welding operations for structural steel projects. This role ensures that all fabrication, fit-up, and welding activities are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with shop drawings, project specifications, and production schedules. The Foreman leads shop welders and fitters, maintains quality standards, and drives productivity to meet deadlines. Key Responsibilities Production Supervision Oversee daily fabrication and welding operations, including layout, fit-up, welding, and assembly of structural steel components. Assign work to welders and fitters based on production schedules and project priorities. Monitor workflow to ensure jobs are completed on time and within budget. Coordinate with the Detail/Processing department to ensure materials are ready and accurate before fabrication begins. Address fabrication or welding issues promptly to avoid delays. Welding Oversight Ensure all welding meets AWS and project-specific welding procedure specifications (WPS). Verify welders are properly certified for required processes (FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, etc.). Conduct visual weld inspections and coordinate third-party inspections when required. Maintain weld quality, proper fit-up, and dimensional accuracy. Quality Control Review shop drawings before fabrication begins to ensure understanding and accuracy. Confirm fabricated assemblies meet tolerance requirements and customer specifications. Work closely with Quality Control to resolve non-conformance issues. Ensure revisions are communicated clearly to shop personnel. Leadership & Team Management Supervise and mentor welders, fitters, and helpers. Train new employees on shop procedures, safety standards, and welding practices. Promote accountability, teamwork, and efficiency in the shop. Conduct performance evaluations and address disciplinary matters as needed. Safety & Compliance Enforce OSHA and company safety standards at all times. Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks. Ensure proper PPE usage and safe operation of cranes, forklifts, and welding equipment. Maintain a clean and organized fabrication area. Qualifications 5+ years of structural steel fabrication and welding experience. 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role preferred. Strong ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings. Knowledge of
AWS D1.1
structural welding code requirements. Experience with FCAW, GMAW, and SMAW welding processes. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage production schedules and workforce efficiency. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods in a shop environment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled industrial setting. Work Environment Structural steel fabrication facility. Exposure to welding fumes, grinding dust, overhead cranes, and heavy equipment.
Pay:
$30.00 - $40.00 per hour
