Job Summary Responsible for the overall production performance of the facility; for achieving production goals and setting priorities regarding improvement opportunities. Provides leadership, support and direction to the Production workforce. Essential Functions Supervises and directs personnel in performing manufacturing operations according to sound operating principles and company policies and procedures. Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment. Trains, evaluates, and reviews operators. Organizes work for smooth operations. Ensures that established policies, rules and regulations, and procedures are followed. Verifies correct identification, weights, and warehousing of products. Verifies that paperwork is properly completed and filed. Responsible for all processes, equipment, employees, safety, and housekeeping of the area and meeting production quality and quantity standards on the shift. Manages manufacturing records and reports, such as items manufactured batch records, yield, productivity performance, and inventory records Perform other functions as required. Insures all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed. Responsible for overseeing sanitation practices to ensure equipment and facilities meet acceptable quality standards. Additional Responsibilities Develops among assigned personnel a consciousness for the need for teamwork to attain department objectives. Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities. Company commitments often demand timely, innovative thinking and actions. Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree; six months to one year related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Working knowledge of TQM, Kaizen, KanBan, Lean Manufacturing, etc. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to use and understand production and inventory control software and standard office software such as spreadsheets, e-mail and word processors. Experience with MRP software preferred. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Requires overall knowledge of manufacturing processes, material handling and measurement equipment. This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain a current Food Handlers Permit. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision, and field of vision.
