  • Full-time About the Role Clark's Lumber & Millwork is seeking a skilled and experienced Millwork Shop Foreman to lead day-to-day operations in our custom millwork and casework manufacturing environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving production throughput, upholding quality standards, and developing a high-performing shop team. You will serve as a central point of coordination between Production, Project Management, Engineering/Drafting, Finishing, and Delivery — ensuring that every project is completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest standard of craftsmanship. Key Responsibilities Production Leadership Plan, assign, and prioritize daily and weekly work based on schedules, due dates, and labor availability. Lead daily shop meetings to communicate goals, constraints, and safety topics. Monitor workflow through cutting, assembly, sanding, finishing hand-off, and shipping stages. Adjust staffing and sequencing to prevent bottlenecks and maintain throughput. Fully master and utilize CLM's ERP system (Innergy) on a daily basis. Team Supervision & Development Lead, motivate, and develop skilled millwork carpenters and shop personnel. Provide coaching, cross-training, and clear performance expectations. Address attendance, performance, and behavioral issues promptly and professionally. Foster a respectful, accountable, and quality-driven shop culture. Quality Control Ensure all work aligns with shop drawings, specifications, cut lists, and approved samples. Perform in-process inspections including first-article checks, fit/finish checks, and pre-finish readiness reviews. Identify and correct issues related to dimensions, joinery, veneer grain, edge banding, and hardware placement. Document rework and root causes to drive continuous improvement in first-pass quality. Safety & Compliance Enforce PPE, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and safe material handling procedures. Conduct and document toolbox talks and safety observations. Maintain 5S housekeeping standards and dust collection compliance. Investigate incidents and near-misses; implement corrective actions. Materials, Equipment & Coordination Coordinate with purchasing and inventory teams on shortages and substitutions. Ensure proper machine and tool usage; submit maintenance requests as needed. Collaborate with Production Manager, Project Managers, Engineering/Drafting, and Finishing teams. Interpret architectural blueprints and shop drawings accurately; clarify RFIs, field dimensions, and change orders. Oversee delivery readiness including packaging, labeling, hardware kits, and load coordination. Continuous Improvement Track key shop performance indicators including on-time completion, rework rates, scrap, and labor efficiency. Recommend process, tooling, and training improvements to leadership. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in custom millwork or cabinetry manufacturing. 2+ years in a lead or foreman role preferred. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications. Hands-on knowledge of millwork methods including casework construction, veneering, edge banding, hardware installation, and finishing preparation. Proven leadership, problem-solving, and team management skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Commitment to safety and demonstrated experience enforcing shop safety standards. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Bluebeam (or similar collaboration software), and Microsoft Teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with CNC operations and material optimization. Familiarity with ERP/job tracking systems (Innergy) and labor reporting. OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain). Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain). Physical Requirements Ability to work on the production floor for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and PPE requirements.
