We are currently seeking experienced Sheet Metal Foremen and Lead Mechanics to join our growing team in Richmond, VA . About the Role In this role, you will lead and support the installation, fabrication, and repair of sheet metal systems in commercial and public buildings. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards. Responsibilities Lead Mechanic Provide hands-on leadership to field crews throughout all project phases, from layout and planning to installation and testing Install and oversee installation of commercial HVAC sheet metal systems according to blueprints and specifications Read and interpret drawings and P&ID schematics Work independently and collaboratively with team members Support and guide mechanics and apprentices in the field Foreman Lead fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal systems for commercial HVAC applications Manage crews and coordinate daily jobsite activities Ensure projects stay on schedule and meet quality standards Communicate effectively with subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders Build strong working relationships with crews, clients, and partners Supervise apprentices, mechanics, lead mechanics, and journeymen Maintain a focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction throughout each phase of the project Qualifications Lead Mechanic Minimum of 5 years of sheet metal experience Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics Strong leadership and teamwork skills Foreman Minimum of 8 years of sheet metal experience Proven leadership experience in commercial HVAC projects Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills All Candidates Must have essential hand tools required for the trade Self-motivated, dependable, and team-oriented Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Must be able to pass pre-employment screening, including drug screen and background checks as required Why Join Southern Air?
