O'Malley Timber Products O'Malley Timber Products is seeking an experienced Sawmill Manager to lead day-to-day operations at our sawmill in Tappahannock, Virginia . The ideal candidate will have strong operational leadership, a deep understanding of sawmill production, and experience processing both hardwood and softwood species. This role is responsible for safety, production efficiency, quality, and team leadership. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily sawmill operations including log yard, sawing, maintenance, and shipping Manage production schedules to meet volume, grade, and quality targets Maximize lumber recovery and yield through efficient log breakdown and process control Lead, train, and supervise mill employees; promote accountability and teamwork Enforce all safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards Coordinate preventive maintenance and equipment repairs to minimize downtime Monitor costs, labor efficiency, and production metrics Work closely with ownership and sales to align production with market demand Maintain housekeeping and organization throughout the mill Qualifications Proven experience as a Sawmill Manager, Superintendent, or Senior Lead Strong knowledge of hardwood and softwood sawing practices and lumber grading Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage daily production Mechanical aptitude and understanding of sawmill equipment and maintenance Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement Work Environment & Schedule Full-time, on-site position Day shift with occasional extended hours as needed Outdoor and industrial sawmill environment Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Performance-based incentives Benefits package available (details discussed during interview) Long-term growth opportunity with a stable, family-owned company How to Apply Qualified candidates should submit a resume and brief work history to:
