Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY
This position is responsible for Milestone 7 on day shift (finishing/dimensional/weld) under the direction of the backend superintendent. The role is responsible for overseeing daily departmental activities and for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling operations to ensure optimal safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Promotes a positive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment. Leads the department in maintaining a safe workplace and ensures full compliance with all safety policies and regulations. Ensures full compliance with all quality system requirements, including quality control procedures, departmental operating manuals, process control procedures, and work instructions. Achieves or exceeds throughput goals, target earned hours, and budgetary requirements. Drives and supports departmental 6S and continuous improvement initiatives. Fosters effective employee relations and resolves issues through proactive problem-solving. Responsible for team communication, training, and consistent policy/procedure adherence. Supports production by assigning work schedules aligned with planning priorities. Interviews and recommends candidates for hire; ensures all employees receive proper training on equipment, tools, part-specific techniques, operating procedures, safety practices, and productivity expectations. Conducts performance evaluations and provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and development for team members. Responds to employee questions and concerns; communicates departmental performance and issues to the Operations Manager. Ensures departmental structure, staffing, and capacity align with forecasted production volumes. Establishes, implements, and monitors standards for production performance, operating costs, procedures, and employee conduct. Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Prioritizes safety. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively supervise and motivate employees. Demonstrated ability to promote teamwork within and across departments. Knowledge of the investment casting process and related equipment, or the ability to learn these requirements quickly. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
