JOB TITLE:
Production Supervisor - 1st shift SUMMARY Supervise activities and personnel associated with the filling and packaging operations ensuring compliance to safety, quality, productivity, procedural and regulatory requirements. Responsible for the performance of production lead, machine operators, production workers, and material handlers. SHIFT Shift assignment including scheduled overtime requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Determine daily staffing requirements and assign employees as required to complete the production Work Order schedule while maintaining efficient operations, employee safety and product quality objectives.
  • Monitor compliance to product quality and GMP requirements, proactively lead resolution of product quality or documentation non-compliance, and establish appropriate corrective action plans.
  • Assist with and train operators on machine adjustments and set up of equipment. Monitor equipment performance and notify maintenance to address mechanical issues outside the scope of the Operator.
  • Participate in the inventory reconciliation processes with the objective of maintaining accurate and current inventory records.
Investigate and resolve discrepant inventory conditions. Transfer of inventory from one location to another using internal scanning system. Perform cycle counts and count investigations, when necessary. Ability to periodically lift 50 - 80 pounds and stand for up to 8 hours. Ability to move barrels using a battery operated drum truck,and move pallets using a manual pallet jack.
  • Ensure all personnel understand and follow defined operational procedures and company policies. Coordinate training initiatives as required and address non-compliant situations.
  • Support and assist with safety initiatives resulting in a safe work environment and employee awareness of and compliance to safe work practices.
  • Report and Monitor direct labor productivity to standard, and ensure non-productive (not related to work order) labor activities are being charged to correct accounts.
  • Maintain Operator skills assessments and coordinate training initiatives to ensure the production team is adequately cross trained and competent to facilitate flexible production requirements.
  • Evaluate staffing requirements for individual filling and packaging operations to maximize output per man hour with minimal impact on capacity.
  • Review and submit revisions to Packaging Masters ensuring operational documents accurately reflect the process.
  • Routine interaction with Production analyst, Manufacturing, QA, and Shipping/Receiving regarding the resolution of component quality or availability issues, and availability of finished goods.
  • Administer all company rules, policies, performance expectations and regulatory requirements, including appropriate disciplinary actions dictated by non-compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This Production Supervisor position reports to the Production Manager.
Knowledge/Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent with at least two years of experience in food or OTC/drug manufacturing. Prefer candidate to have three years work experience in a leadership role and five or more years of experience in a production environment. Ability to read and speak English, and ability to perform simple math functions including calculating percentages.
Must also possess:
1) Technical aptitude, 2) Basic functional knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and email software, 3) Proficient verbal and written communication skills, 4) Effective interpersonal skills.
