Job Description

To support that mission, we're looking for a Sewing Apprentice / Shop Hand to join our growing production team in Palmer. We're a small, capable team that values practical thinking, reliability, and getting the job done right. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, wants to learn industrial sewing and fabrication skills, and takes pride in building quality products designed for real-world use in demanding conditions. No advanced sewing experience is required. We are willing to train the right individual with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Job Duties Responsibilities may include:
Assist the sewing department with production of industrial covers, tarps, portable shelters, insulated products, and other custom fabric solutions Learn to operate industrial sewing machines and fabrication equipment Follow patterns and assist with measuring and cutting materials Prepare materials and components for production Assist with packaging finished products for shipment or storage Help maintain organization and cleanliness within the production and sewing areas Support set up and inspection of completed products for quality control Operate hand tools, cutting tools, snap setters, grommet machines, and other shop equipment as trained Assist with repairs, alterations, and basic product assembly Work alongside experienced team members to learn fabrication and sewing techniques Perform general shop duties and assist other departments as needed Other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous sewing experience is helpful but not required Comfortable working with hand tools and learning new equipment Ability to read a tape measure and understand basic measurements Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn Reliable, selfmotivated, and able to work well within a team environment Ability to take direction and follow through on tasks Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds throughout the workday Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical work Commitment to workplace safety and following company procedures Compensation and Benefits Hourly compensation $18.00 $24.00 DOE Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance Paid Time Off (following 90 days of employment) Holiday Pay 401(k) Employee Discounts Casual Work Environment Our production team plays a critical role in keeping TundraTech Alaska operating at a high level.
