Job Description

We are currently seeking an entry level Shop Hand to join our Palmer manufacturing team. This role is hands-on and requires a detail oriented individual. The ideal candidate takes pride in craftsmanship, works with precision, and values producing quality work that directly supports the aviation community.
Position Description:
Shop Hand Position Summary:
The Shop Hand supports daily operations by assisting with material handling, basic production tasks, shop organization, and facility housekeeping. Additional responsibilities include part marking, tagging, removing ink from parts prior to powder coating, and supporting light assembly work as needed. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and eager to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Cut parts from material sheets and deburr components using a bench grinder (primary responsibility). Perform part marking, tagging, double-tagging, and remove ink from parts prior to powder coating. Assist with light assembly and basic production support as needed.
Handle facility housekeeping:
clean break room and bathrooms, take out garbage, and perform routine sweeping. Maintain organized work areas and support general shop tasks (material prep, staging parts, stocking workstations). Move materials and support shipping/receiving activities as directed. Safely operate basic shop equipment (hand tools, pallet jacks, carts, etc.). Follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures. Assist with general production tasks as needed
Experience and Skills:
Experience or interest in hands-on mechanical or assembly work; experience in manufacturing or warehouse a plus. Reliable and punctual with strong work ethic. Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors. Commitment to safety and teamwork. Education Requirements High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required Physical Requirements Ability to climb ladders, reach overhead, climb stairs multiple times a day and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work on feet for extended periods. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Why McFarlane Aviation?
