Job Description
Job Summary The Press Feeder supports pressroom operations by loading paper, monitoring feeder systems, and assisting the Pressman to ensure continuous, efficient, and safe operation of printing presses. This role is essential to maintaining production flow, print quality, and workplace safety in a commercial lithographic printing environment. Duties and responsibilities Load paper and materials into press feeders according to job specifications Monitor feeder operation to ensure proper sheet flow, alignment, and spacing Adjust feeder settings as needed to prevent jams, misfeeds, or damage Assist the Pressman during press make‑ready, start‑ups, and production runs Remove defective sheets and assist with waste handling and recycling Stack, palletize, or transport printed materials as required Keep pressroom and feeder areas clean, organized, and safe Perform basic cleaning and routine maintenance on feeder equipment Communicate production or equipment issues promptly to the Pressman or supervisor Follow all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and use of PPE Assist with other pressroom tasks as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing or production environment Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn press operations Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Strong attention to detail and safety awareness Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a pressroom or manufacturing environment Familiarity with offset printing presses and feeder systems Interest in learning press operation and advancement to Pressman Experience in a unionized production environment Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills a plus Physical Demands Stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods Lift and move paper, materials, and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs Repetitive motion involved in feeding and stacking materials Visual acuity to monitor sheet quality and feeder performance Compliance & Legal Language This position is classified as non‑exempt under California law and is eligible for overtime, meal periods, and rest breaks in accordance with the California Labor Code and applicable Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) Wage Orders.
