Printing/Reprographics Specialist Merchsource - 3.4 Irvine, CA Job Details Full-time $72,000 a year 22 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description The Printing Reprographics Specialist is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and optimization of flatbed UV printing and cutting equipment, ensuring high-quality production output while supporting prepress, showroom, and warehouse operations. This role requires strong technical, mechanical, and organizational skills, along with the ability to troubleshoot equipment, maintain print quality standards, and support overall production efficiency. Key Responsibilities Equipment Operation & Maintenance Operate flatbed UV printing equipment, including loading substrates, aligning media, setting material thickness, and configuring print parameters. Perform daily, weekly, and scheduled preventative maintenance on printing equipment. Clean print heads, replace inks and consumables, and maintain equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. Measure and verify media thickness using appropriate tools such as digital calipers and micrometers. Follow all safety procedures related to UV printing equipment, inks, and associated production processes. Print Production & Workflow Prepare and process print jobs using RIP and workflow software such as ONYX Thrive, ONYX Production House, or equivalent platforms. Manage job nesting, batching, registration, color settings, and print mode selection to maximize efficiency and quality. Coordinate production schedules and prioritize jobs to meet deadlines. Quality Control Inspect printed output for color accuracy, registration, banding, and other quality standards. Conduct print testing and performance evaluations to ensure optimal equipment performance. Make necessary adjustments and calibrations to maintain consistent production quality. Troubleshooting & Problem Solving Diagnose and resolve routine mechanical, software, media handling, and print quality issues. Identify opportunities for preventative maintenance and process improvements. Work proactively to minimize equipment downtime and maximize productivity. Prepress Support Assist with file preparation and proof review. Support color management activities, including Pantone color matching. Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure files are production-ready. Showroom & Sample Support Provide showroom support, including printing and assembling wall displays and demonstration materials. Assist with creation of sample mockups, prototypes, and customer presentation materials as needed. Materials & Inventory Management Monitor printing materials, inks, and consumable inventory levels. Assess material requirements and coordinate ordering to ensure uninterrupted production operations. Maintain organized storage of substrates and production supplies. Warehouse Support Provide warehouse assistance when needed, including material handling, inventory organization, and shipping support. Assist with movement and staging of products and materials throughout the facility. Qualifications Technical Skills Experience operating flatbed UV printers, preferably Canon Arizona or similar platforms. Knowledge of RIP software such as ONYX Thrive, ONYX Production House, or equivalent. Understanding of print production workflows, color management, and media handling. Ability to read and follow technical manuals and operating procedures. Preferred Software Skills ONYX Thrive / Production House Adobe Photoshop Microsoft Office Suite Physical Requirements Ability to lift and position large or heavy rigid substrates. Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail. Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a production environment. Communication & Organization Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to coordinate effectively with prepress, production, warehouse, and quality teams. Excellent time management and organizational abilities. Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. 3+ years of prior experience operating flatbed printers or related production equipment preferred. Manufacturer or industry-specific training is a plus.
