Production Operator Job Description This role supports a high-volume automotive manufacturing plant by operating within stamping and body weld departments to produce quality parts in a fast-paced assembly line environment. The production operator safely handles, sorts, stacks, and moves automotive components while meeting strict production targets and adhering to rigorous safety standards. Responsibilities Operate within stamping and body weld departments to support continuous automotive production on an assembly line. Collect, sort, and stack automotive parts as they move through the production process, ensuring correct placement and organization. Handle and move parts of various sizes and weights according to production orders while maintaining safe lifting practices. Perform spot welding tasks as required to support body weld operations, following established procedures and safety guidelines. Use a sit-down forklift to move materials and products safely and efficiently, applying at least 2 years of recent forklift experience. Meet defined cycle times by completing assigned tasks within allotted production time and achieving daily output targets. Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment, including Kevlar sleeves, safety gloves, safety glasses, safety helmet, safety face shield, leather apron, ear and noise protection, and steel toe shoes. Work on your feet for 8 or more hours per day, performing repetitive motions while maintaining focus and accuracy. Adhere to a strict attendance policy to support consistent production schedules and team reliability. Demonstrate a positive attitude, remain coachable, and respond constructively to feedback and training. Successfully complete and pass two required online assessments prior to or during onboarding. Maintain a clean and organized work area, following housekeeping standards and supporting a safe industrial environment. Essential Skills At least 2 years of recent sit-down forklift experience, including safe operation in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Ability to perform heavy lifting, sorting, and stacking of automotive parts safely and consistently. Comfort working in a heavy industrial, loud manufacturing environment with large equipment and machinery. Capability to stand and remain on your feet for 8+ hours per day while performing repetitive motions. Strong adherence to safety procedures, including proper use of full personal protective equipment. Ability to meet defined production cycle times and complete assigned tasks within scheduled timeframes. Willingness to work flexible shifts as required by production demands. High school diploma or GED, with proof of completion. Ability to follow instructions, learn new tasks quickly, and remain coachable. Reliability and commitment to a strict attendance policy. Ability to pass two online assessments as part of the hiring process. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous manufacturing experience, especially in automotive production, is a strong plus but not required. Experience with stacking and handling various sizes of parts in a production or warehouse environment. Background in general labor, production, or manufacturing roles. Experience with spot welding or exposure to welding processes in an industrial setting. Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment with defined cycle times and production goals. Work Environment This role is based in a heavy industrial automotive manufacturing facility with two primary departments: stamping and body weld. The environment is loud, fast-paced, and highly safety-focused, with large machinery and continuous production lines. You will work full shifts on your feet, typically 8 or more hours per day, performing repetitive motions and handling parts of varying sizes and weights. The position requires full personal protective equipment at all times, including Kevlar sleeves, safety gloves, safety glasses, safety helmet, safety face shield, leather apron, ear and noise protection, and steel toe shoes. The facility operates with flexible shifts to meet production demands and follows a strict attendance policy. Dress and equipment expectations center on safety, durability, and compliance with industrial standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Beach, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.90 - $26.65/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
