SUMMMARY
The Production Area Lead is responsible for start-up of assigned line, verifying the processing plan and to ensure the efficient day-to-day production in a food manufacturing facility. The primary objective of the Production Area Lead is to keep operations running safely, efficiently, and effectively, with a minimum amount of down time in a challenging, fast-paced environment. The Production Area Lead ensures compliance with safety, quality, processing, and packaging requirements while directing activities of employees assigned to their production lines. The Production Area Lead will be responsible for the results of this line for their shift, efficient shift change, and is tasked with driving their employees to meet all KPI's and goals in safety, quality, processing, and packaging standards.FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Responsible for effectively leading the work of employees assigned to their lines.
- Maintain a high level of floor presence (95%+) and hands on the production process to meet expectations.
- Ensure GMP'S and safe work practices are being followed
- Report safety/GMP violations, absences and employee relations issues to management
- Monitor the performance of employees in areas of safety, quality, processing/packaging efficiency, control downtime
- Coordinate breaks and lunches for team to ensure compliance
- Partner with Supervisor to ensure daily staffing levels.
- Ensure completion of the documentation for their line. Verify accuracy of the documentation.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensure housekeeping standards are met in the work area
- Ensure efficient pass down to next shift
- Required to support training and ability to demonstrate proper procedures and protocol to employees.
- Other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrate professionalism in written, verbal, & nonverbal modes of communicating
- Ability to comprehend and learn product and packaging specifications for the department.
- Ability to comprehend and learn product set-ups for the department.
- Must be able to understand and follow a production schedule.
- 1 year bakery experience required.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must be trained and demonstrate full understanding and competency in LOTO procedure
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and lift up to 50 lbs. and shared weight up to 100 lbs. Occasional exposure to airborne dust, high humidity and extremes of hot and cold are possible.
