Full Job Description Role Objective:
Control Room Operator (CRO) will be responsible for safe, reliable and compliant operation of Hydrogen Generation and Dispensing Plant from the Central Control Room (CCR). The role includes real time monitoring and control of electrolysis systems, hydrogen compression, storage, and dispensing assets in full compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.Reporting to:
Plant Manager /Operations Manager Key Responsibility:
Monitor and operate plants as well as subsystems including electrolyzers (PEM), utilities, hydrogen compression, storage, and dispensing facilities viaSCADA/PLC
platforms. Ensure that the plant is operating within approved parameters/limits for pressure, temperature, voltage, current density, flow rates and gas purity. Monitor alarms, trends, interlocks and safety instrumented functions (SIFs); initiate corrective actions according to approved procedures. Coordinate continuously with field operators to ensure safe execution of local operations. Operate the plant in compliance with applicable U.S. regulations and codes, e.g., OSHA, NFPA, CGA, ASME, API & ISA regulations Control hydrogen dispensing systems for vehicle fueling or tube trailer filling in accordance with SAE J2601, NFPA, and OEM operating limits. Ensure accurate custody transfer records, batch reports, and dispensing logs and coordinate with the logistics, fleet operators for smooth operation. Execute controlled startup, shutdown, emergency shutdown, and load changes following approved operating procedures. Maintain records and logs of operations with key parameters. Monitor and record data related to hydrogen production, electricity consumption, water usage and discharge (as applicable). Support compliance with EPA environmental permits and reporting requirements. Identify operational inefficiencies, equipment abnormalities and reliability concerns and escalate to Plant manager or engineering team for improvement opportunities. Support troubleshooting by providing operational insights and historical control data. Monitor hydrogen detection, fire & gas systems, ventilation, ESD systems, and safety interlocks. Respond effectively to abnormal situations, leaks, alarms, or emergency events in accordance with the Emergency Response Plan.Qualification and Skills:
Associate or bachelor's degree in Instrumentation/ Electrical/ Mechanical engineering from reputed institute At least 5 years of experience in control room operations for industrial gas production, hydrogen production or dispensing facility, or gas processing process plants. Certification in safety aspects, e.g., OSHA 30, HAZOP, CGA, SIMOP, First Aid, CPR, etc. Proficiency withDCS / SCADA / PLC
systems (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Emerson, Rockwell make). Ability to interpret engineering drawings (P&IDs), cause & effect diagrams, logic diagrams and standard operating procedures (SOP) Working knowledge of Hydrogen safety hazards, alarm management principles (ISA-18.2), F&G system and safety integrated system (SIS) Familiarity with OT cybersecurity practices Ambitious, energetic, self-motivated, self-managed, results oriented personnel. Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Ability to sit for extended periods and operate computer‑based control systems Skilled in oral and written communication, and attention to detailed and disciplined documentation Must be able to respond effectively during emergency situationsJob Type:
