Engineering Assistant Job Description:
The Engineering Assistant is an entry-level role supporting Senior Engineers and Management with administrative, engineering, and production activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position assists with customer order processing, engineering documentation, job planning, production support, and process improvement while working closely with engineering, production, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, suppliers, and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive customer purchase orders and associated documents; enter and maintain order information in ERP and estimating systems. Request, organize, and maintain drawings, CAD models, specifications, customer requirements, job folders, and production documentation. Interface with customers to clarify contract and technical requirements and assist senior engineers in interpreting specifications and project details. Assist with engineering plans, job routings, traveler/router work steps, PMCCs, CRRAs, work instructions, and production process development. Update estimating levels, POP sheets, PO logs, data sheets, and production tracking information to reflect current job status. Release jobs to production and communicate releases through Teams. Create part thumbnails from drawings and CAD models. Issue RFQs to suppliers and evaluate pricing, quality, and lead times. Support troubleshooting, process improvements, testing procedures, and production/manufacturing operations. Operates Laser and 3D printing equipment and participate in training related to engineering, production, and quality processes.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate documentation.
Desired Traits:
Strong attention to detail. Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and manage time effectively. Positive attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
1-2 years of manufacturing or production experience preferred. Familiarity with ERP systems, engineering drawings, CAD models, or manufacturing documentation is a plus. This position description incorporates the core responsibilities of the job.
