The Manufacturing, Production & Automation Lead is responsible for the instruction, enrollment, and promotion of Industry 4.0 Lab courses in a higher education setting. This position plays a vital role in delivering hands-on learning experiences, expanding student engagement, and enhancing workforce training programs focused on soldering, advanced manufacturing, automation, and smart factory technologies. This is a grant funded 20 hour per week OPS- instructional role paying $53.82 per hour. The position is guaranteed through May 2027 per grant funding deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Program Development:
Teach Industry 4.0-focused courses covering topics such as soldering, mechatronics, automation, robotics, IoT, AI in manufacturing, digital twins, and smart factory technologies. Support program design and development by creating and implementing hands-on lab exercises that provide students with practical experience in soldering, advanced manufacturing, and/or automation systems. Create and revise Syllabi per grant program requirements, inform program structure, and translate industry credentials into program curriculum.
Student Enrollment & Engagement:
Manage enrollment processes for assigned Industry 4.0 courses. Support strategies to increase student enrollment in Industry 4.0 courses and workforce programs . Conduct information sessions, workshops, and recruitment events to attract prospective students.
Lab Promotion & Outreach:
Inform the development of marketing strategies to promote Industry 4.0 Lab courses to students, faculty, and industry partners. Inform promotional materials, including brochures, videos, and social media content highlighting lab capabilities and student projects. Help organize and host lab tours, open houses, and industry demonstrations in partnership with grant and program staff.
Industry & Workforce Collaboration:
Provide subject matter expertise to inform partnership development with manufacturing companies, automation firms, and workforce development agencies to enhance program offerings.
Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement:
Monitor enrollment trends, student feedback, and course effectiveness for assigned program to identify areas for improvement. Provide data to support the development of reports on course outcomes, lab usage, and industry engagement efforts.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Experience:
Required:
Postsecondary education in a related field and/or trainer certifications in soldering, engineering, semiconductor processes, or manufacturing. Teaching experience or professional training experience required.
Preferred:
Bachelor's or master's degree in manufacturing engineering , Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in soldering, advanced manufacturing, automation, or Industry 4.0 technologies.
Technical & Professional Skills:
Knowledge of soldering processes and certifications, automation systems, robotics, PLC programming, IoT, AI in manufacturing, digital twins, and/or smart factories . Experience with CAD software, manufacturing simulation tools, and learning management systems (LMS) preferred . Ability to inform enrollment growth strategies as it relates to marketing and student recruitment .
Soft Skills:
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with students, faculty, and industry partners. Ability to support and collaborate with assigned staff on grant program related tasks. Passion for technology-driven education, hands-on learning, and workforce development.
Work Environment & Compensation:
Work in classroom, lab, and industry settings with infrequent travel for industry engagement. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods when setting up lab equipment or leading workshops. This is a part time OPS Instructional grant-funded role guaranteed through May of 2027 for 20 hours per week at a pay rate of $53.82 per hour. The pay rate is non-negotiable. Candidates who cannot commit to instructing/working 20 hours per week should not apply. Classes may be in the evening or during the day depending on the needs of the college and contractor. Schedules will be discussed for any qualified candidates during the interview process.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule including nights and weekends.
