Production Worker Job Description This short-term Production Worker role supports a metal expanding department by packing metal products, such as chicken wire, into plastic sleeves, labeling them, and preparing them for shipment. The assignment is expected to last 2-4 weeks, with the potential to transition into a permanent position based on performance. The role requires consistent, hands-on work in an industrial environment and involves lifting up to 30 pounds. Responsibilities Pack chicken wire and related metal products into plastic sleeves accurately and efficiently. Label packaged products clearly and correctly according to production and shipping requirements. Place labeled products into boxes and prepare them for storage or shipment. Operate basic machinery and equipment safely as needed within the metal expanding department. Use a tape measure to verify product dimensions and ensure they meet specifications. Handle materials throughout the production area, including loading, moving, and staging products. Apply basic mechanical aptitude to support metal rolling, metal stamping, and related processes. Use hand tools safely and correctly during daily tasks. Perform basic math calculations to support measurement, counting, and quality checks. Maintain a clean and organized work area within the industrial facility. Follow all safety guidelines and standard operating procedures at all times. Work proactively, stay productive with minimal supervision, and take initiative to support team goals. Demonstrate reliability, strong work ethic, and consistent attendance throughout the assignment. Participate in required testing, such as basic math assessments, as part of the hiring process. Essential Skills Previous industrial experience, with manufacturing experience preferred. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds repeatedly during the shift. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately. Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and measurement. Mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic mechanical concepts. Familiarity with machine operation in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Experience using hand tools safely and effectively. Material handling experience in a production or warehouse environment. Ability to understand or learn processes related to RAM, metal rolling, and metal stamping. Proactive, self-starting approach to work with strong initiative. Demonstrated strong work ethic and reliability in previous roles. Additional Skills & Qualifications Successful completion of a basic math test as part of the hiring process. Experience as a machine operator, packer, or material handler in a manufacturing environment. Comfort working in an industrial setting that is not climate controlled. Work Environment You work in a clean, industrial metal expanding facility within a large multi-plant complex. The environment is not climate controlled, so temperatures vary with the seasons. The role is on the first shift, Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch and two paid 15-minute breaks, and occasional work on Fridays as needed. The work is hands-on and physical, involving standing, walking, lifting up to 30 pounds, and operating or working around industrial machinery, metal rolling and stamping equipment, and hand tools. Standard industrial attire suitable for a manufacturing environment is expected, along with any required personal protective equipment provided in the facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
