Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Leads, supervises, and supports Plastic Injection Molding (PIM) personnel to achieve daily production goals by adhering to defined policies and procedures while promoting a safe work environment. Identifies and implements continuous improvement opportunities throughout the department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential job functions are duties that are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily; other duties being assigned as necessary to the department, or company mission. Evaluates daily manpower (plan vs. actual) and utilizes associates based on production needs. Prepares and coordinates daily production schedules and reports production results. Evaluates, maintains, and updates work instructions with improvements. Adheres to and enforces HL-A policies and procedures. Promotes safety awareness through training, monitoring, and reporting of potential hazards. Monitors associate training and performance requirements. Identifies and performs kaizen activities within the department. Supports HTR/DTR investigations. Monitors, controls, and reports abnormal processes within the department. Performs and adheres to required QA system procedures (IPP, etc.). Supports Production Associates with miscellaneous needs, such as supplies, etc. Supports New Model trial events. Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job includes supervisory responsibility for production associates for PIM areas.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal with various levels of associates from production associate to management. Ability to write and communicate standardized processes and procedures to associates. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and associates. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and various graphs. Ability to identify abnormal conditions in the manufacturing process and adjust to changing production schedules and priorities. Ability to use problem-solving methods to determine root cause of product defects. Ability to evaluate issues related to people and processes and choose the best plan of action to improve situations. Have basic computer knowledge with the ability and desire to learn Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes or similar application software required. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Thorough understanding or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery. Excellent supervisory and leadership skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete reports and logs.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED 1+ year(s) of manufacturing experience
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to traverse the production facility. Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time. The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an Associate typically encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. An Associate must be willing to work any shift or required overtime, as needed, on a seven-day work cycle depending on company needs and customer production demands. For additional physical requirements please see ADA Attachment. This position will train on 1st shift and after training, will move to2nd shift permanently.
