About the Role The Production and Equipment Maintenance Associate is a unique dual-function position at our Marietta, GA facility. This role blends hands-on cream cheese production with frontline equipment maintenance responsibilities, making it ideal for a versatile, mechanically-inclined individual who thrives in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You will play an essential role in both the day-to-day production of high-quality cream cheese products and the ongoing reliability of our production and packaging equipment. From mixing and filling to troubleshooting machinery and performing preventive maintenance, you will be a critical contributor to the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of our facility. Essential ResponsibilitiesProduction Operations Measure, mix, and blend ingredients following established cream cheese recipes and formulations. Operate and monitor mixers, pasteurizers, and filling/packaging machinery to maintain consistent product quality. Adjust processing equipment settings to control product texture, consistency, and yield. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) protocols. Conduct in-process checks (temperature, pH, weight, packaging integrity) and record results accurately. Ensure all finished products meet safety and quality standards before packaging. Fill, seal, and label cream cheese containers according to specifications. Inspect packaging for defects and remove defective products from the production line. Assist in preparing finished goods for storage or shipment. Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, and production areas according to strict sanitation schedules. Maintain a clean work environment to prevent contamination or cross-contact of allergens. Dispose of waste and byproducts properly, following facility protocols. Equipment Maintenance Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production and packaging equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on production machinery to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Replace and repair mechanical components including bearings, sprockets, chains, motors, belts, gearboxes, and related assemblies. Troubleshoot and repair high-speed packaging equipment, including conveyors, sealing equipment, labeling machines, and automated production systems. Perform electrical troubleshooting on control systems, motors, sensors, and PLC-controlled equipment as needed. Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime. Assist with equipment setup, changeovers, calibration, and adjustments to support production schedules. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, repair documentation, and preventative maintenance records. Perform general facility maintenance including basic plumbing, electrical, and structural repairs. Assist with refrigeration system maintenance and troubleshooting, as applicable. Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and company safety standards. Identify and report safety risks, equipment concerns, or operational improvement opportunities. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment performance and reliability. Team & Communication Communicate equipment issues, safety concerns, or production deviations to supervisors immediately. Work collaboratively with production associates and operations teams to maintain smooth workflow. Provide cross-functional support across shifts or departments as production needs change. Demonstrate professional maturity and strictly uphold PopUp Bagels' anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies. Education & Experience Requirements Minimum of 3 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment. Demonstrated hands-on experience with heavy production machinery. Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment in a fast-paced setting. Strong electrical troubleshooting experience, including motors, control systems, and related equipment. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional second shifts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated reliability, adaptability, and willingness to contribute wherever needed. Preferred Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a continuous food manufacturing environment. Technical training, trade school certification, or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related field. Experience in food manufacturing, bakery manufacturing, or similar production environments. Refrigeration system troubleshooting and maintenance experience. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods on concrete or hard surfaces. Regularly required to use hands, arms, and fingers to handle, reach, lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment. Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance or mechanical support. Ability to work at heights up to 18 feet using ladders or elevated platforms. Ability to work in refrigerated and temperature-controlled environments. Visual acuity and manual dexterity required to operate machinery, read gauges, and perform quality inspections. Tolerance for working in environments with variable temperatures, noise levels, and exposure to manufacturing materials. Safe use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance tools required. PPE required in designated areas. Company provides tools and a well-equipped work environment.
