Job Description

Electrical Specialist - Chemical Manufacturing- Job Description The Electrical Specialist is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving electrical systems and equipment within a chemical manufacturing facility. This role supports plant operations by ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems, controls, motors, drives, PLCs, instrumentation, and production equipment.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on plant electrical equipment.
  • Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment and system upgrades.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Diagnose electrical failures and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and company safety standards.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to support production goals.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Participate in emergency response and on-call maintenance support as required. Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of industrial electrical experience, preferably within chemical, manufacturing, or processing environments.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting, VFDs, instrumentation, and industrial control systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Preferred Experience
  • Experience in chemical, industrial, or manufacturing facilities.
  • Familiarity with automation systems and process controls.
  • Knowledge of hazardous environments and intrinsically safe systems.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, overtime, and plant shutdowns as needed. Preferred/Required Experience
  • Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent industrial electrical certification preferred
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification preferred
NFPA 70E
Electrical Safety Certification preferred
  • PLC programming/troubleshooting certifications (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) preferred
  • Industrial Electrical Maintenance Certification preferred
  • Arc Flash Safety Training certification preferred
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training required
  • Hazardous Location or intrinsically safe systems training preferred
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license required Chemical Industry Specific Experience
  • Experience working in hazardous or explosive environments
  • Understanding of NEC hazardous location classifications
  • Experience with instrumentation and process controls
  • Knowledge of PSM (Process Safety Management) environments preferred Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments including exposure to heat, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE and work safely in a production environment. Work Environment This position operates within a chemical manufacturing facility and may require working around industrial machinery, chemicals, and rotating equipment while following all company safety procedures.
