Job Title:
Materials Assistant Job Description The Materials Assistant plays a key role in supporting manufacturing operations by handling inventory, materials, packaging, and labeling activities across multiple shifts. This position focuses on accurately kitting parts for production, counting and sorting small components, and performing site warehousing functions that directly support production and customer-related activities. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Perform site warehousing functions that support overall manufacturing operations and customer-related activities. Handle inventory, including receiving, storing, counting, organizing, and tracking materials and components. Kit parts for production by accurately counting, sorting, and assembling small components according to specifications. Perform material handling tasks such as moving, staging, and replenishing materials for production areas. Package and label materials and finished goods in accordance with customer specifications and quality standards. Understand and follow quality and safety policy guidelines, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements. Work independently with minimal supervision while escalating urgent or important issues to leaders as needed. Adapt quickly to changing priorities, tasks, and work areas to meet evolving customer and production demands. Use basic computer systems and bar code scanners to record, track, and verify inventory and material movements. Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks in a safe and efficient manner, as required. Maintain clean, organized, and orderly workstations and storage areas within the manufacturing environment. Actively support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, efficiency, and the work environment. Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and leaders using both written and oral communication. Demonstrate strong teamwork, professional demeanor, job knowledge, problem-solving, and adherence to lean principles. Follow attendance, timeliness, and overtime requirements, including working nights, various shifts, and weekends as needed. Essential Skills One (1) or more years of related experience in inventory, material handling, packaging, or a similar role is preferred. High school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience with inventory and material handling processes. Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking. Strong attention to detail when counting, sorting, and kitting small components. Ability to interpret, receive, and apply both written and oral instructions. Ability to work independently without constant supervision and escalate issues appropriately. Flexibility to work overtime, nights, various shifts, and weekends as required. Ability to work in multiple areas and adapt to changing tasks and priorities. Demonstrated competencies in teamwork, professional demeanor, quality focus, job knowledge, communication, problem solving, lean principles, flexibility, attendance, and timeliness. Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time. Ability to lift, reach, push, and pull up to 45 pounds as required. Willingness and ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment for the assigned area. Must be 18 years of age or older. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with packaging and labeling in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Experience using material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and bar code scanners. Familiarity with general office equipment and materials. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work and continuous improvement. Comfort working in a structured, process-driven manufacturing environment. Work Environment This role is based in a clean, organized manufacturing environment with orderly workstations, suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and a moderate noise level. You will work around general office equipment, materials, and material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and bar code scanners. The position requires wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as needed for the assigned area.
Multiple shifts are available:
a first shift running Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with frequent overtime; a second shift running Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with frequent overtime; and a modified third shift running from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (week one: Tuesday through Friday; week two: Wednesday through Saturday). The work involves extended periods of standing, walking, and lifting up to 45 pounds in a production-focused setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Nampa, ID. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.80/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
