50/hr Job Description This role supports a high-speed manufacturing facility by operating rewind machines to transfer finished cable onto spools after the extrusion and coating process. The Production Operator ensures proper tension, alignment, and quality standards while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work area. This position is ideal for someone with prior machine operation experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and a keen eye for detail. Responsibilities + Operate rewind machines to wind finished cable onto appropriate spools following the extrusion and coating process. + Load and unload large cable spools safely and efficiently using proper techniques and tools. + Monitor line speed, tension, and alignment to ensure proper winding and prevent product defects. + Inspect cable and finished product for defects and verify that all quality standards and specifications are met. + Make basic machine adjustments as needed to maintain production efficiency and product consistency. + Follow daily production schedules, prioritize tasks, and meet output and throughput requirements. + Accurately label, document, and prepare finished products for the next stage of production or shipment. + Use hand and power tools as needed to support machine operation and material handling. + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility standards. + Collaborate with team members and supervisors to address production issues and improve processes. + Handle large spools and perform repetitive tasks while maintaining focus on quality and safety. Essential Skills + Previous production experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. + Manufacturing or industrial production experience, including exposure to high-speed equipment. + Prior machine operation experience, such as rewind machines, slitting machines, or similar high-speed equipment. + Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to quality standards. + Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, production schedules, and standard operating procedures. + Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues during operation. + Experience using hand and power tools in a production or general labor setting. + Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed during the shift. + Comfort working on your feet for extended periods in a fast-paced environment. + Ability to safely handle large spools and perform repetitive tasks without compromising quality or safety. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in general production, cleanroom, or general labor work is beneficial. + Experience as a machine operator, roll wrapper, or similar mechanically inclined role. + Familiarity with manufacturing processes involving extrusion, coating, or cable production is an advantage. + Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic in prior roles. + Ability to work effectively as part of a production team and communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors. Work Environment This position is on the 2nd shift, operating from 6:00 p.m. to early morning, Monday through Friday. The facility manufactures and coats electrical wires and cables from start to finish, working with wire on large spools that feed into high-speed machines running at approximately 1,200-1,500 feet per minute. The wire passes through an extrusion process where it is coated with various materials, colors, and thicknesses to meet customer specifications, followed by roll wrapping to package and prepare finished product for shipment. The environment is a fast-paced production floor where employees work on their feet for extended periods, handle large spools, and use hand and power tools while maintaining a clean, organized, and safety-focused workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bensenville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50
