Learn more at www.tohotechnology.com Role Description We are seeking an exceptional bilingual (Japanese/English) executive to serve as an Executive Officer. This is a rare chance lead and develop a lean, high-impact U.S. operation - reporting directly to the parent company in Japan. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Strategic Leadership & Business Planning
  • Lead development and ongoing maintenance of annual company goals and objectives in coordination with parent company executive leadership.
  • Execute strategic operations to sustain and grow monthly profitability across all business units.
  • Plan and lead annual and quarterly company meetings, reviews, and performance reports.
  • Collaborate with the Japan parent company to align and execute business strategy.
  • Develop deep familiarity with each division; motivate success by leading all division managers. 2. Sales Leadership
  • Direct the General Manager of Sales & Service to achieve profit targets across four core business lines: ? Metrology Equipment ? Field Service 3. Contract Manufacturing Growth
  • Oversee Contract Manufacturing Account Managers and provide hands-on guidance to grow both existing and new accounts to achieve profit targets across four core business lines: ? Contract Manufacturing services ? Automation Components
  • Identify opportunities to expand the contract manufacturing portfolio and improve margin. 4. Finance & Compliance
  • Supervise the Geneal Manager of Finance & General affairs and provide monthly oversight and sign-off on all financial reports - P&L, Balance Sheet, Revenue Plan, and Expense Planning.
  • Oversee compliance across all areas: tax, insurance, regulatory requirements, and labor law.
  • Approve compensation and benefits structures.
  • Oversee accounting practices, inventory integrity, and contract management. 5. Human Resources
  • Oversee the General Manager of Human Resources and Office Operations in the development of organizational structure, recruiting, performance review, and compensation systems.
  • Ensure company policies align with labor standards and maintain a compliant, high-performance culture. 6. New Business Development
  • Own and nurture strategic executive relationships with existing partner companies, including KLA, Onto, Merck, and Velo.
  • Prospect, research, analyze, and qualify potential new partners and market opportunities.
  • Present findings and recommendations to Japan executive management for go/no-go decisions.
  • Coordinate the initial B2B outreach and relationship development process. 7 7. Product & Engineering Oversight
  • Oversee the Field Service and Development Engineering team responsible for product engineering, installation, and maintenance.
  • Drive annual maintenance contract revenue generation and ensure service quality standards are met.
REQUIREMENTS
Required
  • Native or business-level fluency in both Japanese and English (written and verbal)
  • Proven leadership experience managing multi-functional operations including sales, finance, and day-to-day operations
  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated ability to manage P&L, budgets, and financial reporting
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • Authorized to work in the United States; based in or willing to relocate to the Chicago area
  • Comfortable reporting to and collaborating closely with executive leadership in Japan Preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience, including at least 5 years in senior management
  • Background working with or within Japanese corporations; deep understanding of Japanese business culture
  • Track record managing a U.S. subsidiary or branch office of a foreign company
  • Hands-on, entrepreneurial experience building teams and driving growth in lean environments
  • Technical or engineering background enabling productive engagement with engineering teams
  • Experience in the micro-electronics or semiconductor industry
  • MBA or advanced degree
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Primarily office-based at 4809 N. Ravenswood Avenue, Chicago, IL 60640
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally by car, air, and other modes of transportation
  • Regular evening teleconferences or video calls with Asia, with schedule flexibility as required
  • Extended periods of desk work; standard office physical demands apply (standing, sitting, lifting, etc.)
  • Proficiency with standard office technology: phone, computer, laptop, and business software
