Job Description

Do you love libraries? Do you love working in a creative field, supporting a team of design professionals who ALSO love libraries. Do you operate best on a team and in a fast-paced environment? The Marketing & Communications Services department of the Des Plaines Public Library is seeking a part time Production Clerk to complete the tasks necessary to produce and distribute marketing and print materials in the library and online. 15 hours per week, spread over 3 days, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate has experience using a Mac platform-based computer and Adobe Cloud products, as well as the demonstrated ability to use large format printers, large paper cutters, and art and production materials and tools, safely, precisely and with attention to detail. They must have the ability to work independently and as a member of a team and the ability to handle multiple and simultaneous tasks, work under tight deadlines, schedule and prioritize projects and follow through with tasks to completion. This position reports directly to the Head of Marketing and Communications Services and is part of a creative services team that also includes a Creative Services Coordinator, a Digital Designer, and a Graphic Designer. Key responsibilities include preparing digital files for printing and maintaining appropriate digital filing systems; printing library materials in many different formats; maintaining and restocking displays of library promotional materials; creating events listings on social media; and supporting the team as needed. Minimum qualifications are a High School diploma and two years' successful work experience in a graphics production environment or similar production-based environment.
