Full Job Description Summary:

This position responsible for setting a limited variety of tools into assigned machines. May work on lathes, mills and corresponding machines and equipment. Performs basic set ups, offsets and may edit programs with assistance. Install fixtures; make manual check of first piece; help operator as necessary. Run machine as needed. May assist CNC technicians.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

Review work instructions and verify job requirements. Check and provide all process components including material, lubricants, packaging and appropriate inspection equipment, etc. Locate proper material thickness and gauge; ensure material meets pre-machining specs. Use cart, tray or forklift to bring necessary tools to machine. Set and position tooling into machine; perform program test for errors and edit if necessary. Set up equipment for accurate material feeds. Run first piece and verify accuracy. Operate machine to run production as required. Visually inspect production for burrs, scrapes, rust and other defects. Check production against settings/offsets, sample, Hymer, CMM and/or print using various gages, micrometers, calipers, etc. Adjust settings as needed. Perform routine maintenance on all assigned equipment and machinery as required. Keep work area neat and orderly. Receives, understands and follows all written and oral instruction. Communicate all concerns and other work-related issues to supervisor. Complete all paperwork associated with position. Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety and attendance requirements. Other duties required to meet company needs as assigned by supervisor. Skills, Education & Experience 1-2 years of experience as a set-up technician in metal manufacturing industry. Ability to learn to speak, read and communicate in English. Ability to read and understand blueprints. Basic shop math understanding. Distinguish a variety of raw materials (stainless steel, cold rolled steel, etc.) Understand machining properties of various raw materials (303SSTv. 304SST) Effective communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills. OSHA required training in Lock-out/Tag-out, Hazard Communication, PPE and Emergency Evacuation. In-house technical training on machines and equipment Minimum Physical Requirements Stamina to work all scheduled hours. 20/40 vision required with or without correction. Use of hands 100% of the workday. Use of hearing 100% of the workday. Ability to stand and or walk 90% of the workday. Ability to exert physical force to push, pull, lift or carry 50 pounds frequently without assistance. Ability to bend, stoop, twist, turn and reach 100% of the workday. Ability to work in shop environment - continuous exposure to potentially hazardous metal working machinery and equipment, loud noises, dust, mist, oils and solvents.

Pay:

$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
