Job Title:
General Production Worker
  • EVG Helper
  • 3rd shift
  • 21/hr Job Description This role supports the operation of automated EVG welding machines to produce metal grating on 3rd shift.
You will load and uncoil heavy steel coils using overhead cranes, assist with welding and cutting operations, monitor product quality, and perform basic preventative maintenance. The position requires hands-on work in a manufacturing environment, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and teamwork. Responsibilities Support production by handling uncoiling operations and safely loading multi-ton steel coils using overhead cranes. Assist with the operation of automated EVG welding machines to produce metal grating panels. Monitor weld quality and visually inspect grating panels for defects, making necessary repairs or adjustments. Perform weekly preventative maintenance tasks on panel welders and related equipment to ensure reliable operation. Operate saws, including bandsaws, rip saws, and shears, to cut materials to specified dimensions. Use tape measures accurately to 1/16 of an inch to verify material sizes and finished product dimensions. Follow written and verbal instructions to complete production tasks accurately and efficiently. Work both independently and as part of a team to meet production goals and maintain workflow. Keep workstations clean, organized, and free of safety hazards throughout the shift. Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and quality issues promptly to the appropriate personnel. Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of tools and machinery. Perform manual labor tasks as needed in a steel manufacturing environment, including lifting, moving, and positioning materials. Support overtime and extended shifts when required, including 10-hour shifts and occasional short-term 12-hour shifts on certain machines. Essential Skills Previous manufacturing experience in an industrial or production environment. Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16 of an inch. Proficient use of hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing or construction setting. Ability to operate or learn to operate overhead cranes safely for loading and moving multi-ton coils. Comfort performing manual labor in a steel manufacturing environment. Strong commitment to following safety protocols and procedures at all times. Ability to follow directions accurately and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Capability to work effectively on 3rd shift and support extended hours when needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating saws such as bandsaws, rip saws, and shears. Fabrication experience in a metal or steel environment. Forklift and overhead crane experience in a production or construction setting. General construction, labor, or production experience. Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and assist with basic preventative maintenance. Strong attention to detail and quality when inspecting and repairing grating panels. Why Work Here? Overtime typically adds 2 hours to a standard shift to create 10-hour days, and you receive at least 24 hours' notice when extended shifts are scheduled. The environment involves working around automated EVG welding machines, saws (bandsaw, rip saw, shear), overhead cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment. You work in a hands-on, steel-focused setting that requires consistent adherence to safety practices. The dress code includes jeans, steel-toe shoes, and long shirts or sleeves; gloves, arm sleeves, and a hard hat are provided as needed to support safe work on the production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Garrett, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $43680.00
