Full Job Description Company Profile:
Aero Industries, Inc. is a global leader of innovative tarp systems and accessories for the transportation/trucking industry. Aero has been in business since 1944, and is a privately owned All-American company. Aero is seeking new talent to join their state of the art manufacturing facility on the Southwest side of Indianapolis.
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The Team Leader is responsible for daily production operations in their respective area, which may consist of multiple work cells. The Team Leader manages the group to schedule and complete items, and reports to the Department Production Supervisor on all production related items. The Team Leader is responsible for their area's employee safety, quality, customer satisfaction, inventory accuracy, cost management (scrap, labor, and supplies), continuous improvement, and employee training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include but not limited to the following: Maintain Daily Department Production Schedules Work with Production Scheduling to keep schedule accurate Verify inventory to confirm parts in stock meet the production schedule Communicate any and all changes or problems with the schedule Update Dept. Production Supervisor with schedule status at beginning and end of day Prioritize "hot orders", while still maintaining production schedule Adjust schedule based on labor capacity and customer demand Departmental Safety, 5S, and Continuous Improvement Activities Attend applicable Continuous improvement and safety meetings Monitor and insure daily safety activity for department Report and document any safety incidents immediately (including first aid and near-miss events) to Dept. Production Supervisor Ensure area meets 5S and continuous improvement standards Maintain daily housekeeping for area Work with Safety Supervisor to determine what items need to be to addressed Monitor Inventory Proactively check inventory status for each order Communicate any discrepancies to scheduling and purchasing Complete physical inventory audit for department as requested by management Complete Daily Departmental Reports (Efficiency, Scrap, Substitutions, etc). Complete and distribute all reports Meet with Team Leaders to determine areas that need improvement and action items Meet with Dept. Production Supervisor to discuss and report any action items Evaluate quality and production related reports from Team Leaders and resolve any issues Manage Overtime, Consumables, and Operating Supplies for Department Identify and report any waste and/or inefficiencies found in area Work with Dept. Production Supervisor to shift labor as needed between departments, to complete order on time and/or reduce overtime Track consumable usage Oversee Employee and Team Training Train new employees on company processes Make employee training a priority for the department Develop employees for future advancement opportunities Work with Dept. Production Supervisor to indicate areas where cross training is needed Ensure employees have the tools and resources need to be successful at their job Create an environment where employees can openly ask questions and give feedback Ensure Quality Control and Quality Assurance for Department Oversee QC/QA for area, in coordination with Dept. Production Supervisor and Quality team Hold team leaders accountable for quality inspection of product Work with Quality team to identify and eliminate errors and defects Proactively communicate quality issues to department to create awareness of any issues Resolve quality issues by identifying root cause, and implementing corrections Participate in Daily Production Updates/Meetings Report all production on-goings, scrap, and efficiency from the previous day Report any staffing, safety, or maintenance items that need to be discussed Discuss any "hot orders" and/or changes to the schedule for the day Meet with employees after meeting to discuss any important information, situations, or problems Update & inform employees via departmental meetings separate from meeting Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED/High School Equivalency required Three or more years of related experience in a manufacturing environment Experience working in the trailer/trucking industry (highly preferred) Experience having a dynamic role in a mid-sized company (highly preferred)
COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) ERP experience a plus
