Job Title:
Assembly Line Leader Job Description The Assembly Line Leader oversees and participates in the assembly of helmet components and related parts in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role combines hands-on assembly work with day-to-day leadership responsibilities, ensuring that production targets, quality standards, and safety procedures are consistently met. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow written work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures, and the capability to guide and support a production team on the assembly line. Responsibilities Remove pressure-sensitive labels from rolls or sheets and accurately apply them to helmets and related parts. Attach pressure-sensitive hook and loop tape to designated locations on or inside helmets and components according to work instructions. Pick up, mate, and assemble small parts with precision and consistency. Bend and flex interior helmet parts using firm, controlled pressure to meet product specifications. Attach fitting booklets and hardware bags to products using plastic ties, following the appropriate method description. Use a glue gun or glue machine when required to assemble components securely. Wear and enforce the use of required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, and other PPE such as gloves or goggles as specified. Read, understand, and follow written instructions and Standard Operating Procedures to perform all assembly tasks correctly. Operate production equipment such as powered screwdrivers, snap and rivet setups, emboss machines, pad print machines, and other machinery in the production area. Package finished parts into boxes, label them correctly, and move boxes to pallets or skids for transport. Use basic computer skills to learn and operate the AVANTE processing system to book orders, review material requirements, locate stored materials, and complete scrap and material issue transactions. Apply basic math skills to document expected production targets and actual results on production logs with accuracy. Lead and support assembly line team members by providing direction, answering questions, and helping resolve production issues. Promote and comply with all safety regulations, proactively identifying and addressing potential hazards to protect every team member. Demonstrate a strong desire to improve personal performance and contribute to continuous improvement within the department. Learn and understand the company's products and production methods to ensure efficient and high-quality assembly. Maintain a clean, organized work area and support 5S or similar workplace organization practices. Collaborate with supervisors and colleagues to meet daily production schedules and quality objectives. Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and team goals. Essential Skills Team lead experience or demonstrated leadership experience in a production or similar environment. Experience working in a manufacturing or general production environment. Assembly or mechanical assembly experience, including work on an assembly or production line. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools and power tools. Ability to read, understand, and follow written work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures. Basic computer skills with the ability to learn systems such as the AVANTE processing system. Basic math skills to track production targets, counts, and results. Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in all assembly tasks. Ability to walk, bend, reach, and stand for long periods of time during the shift. Commitment to complying with safety regulations and promoting a safe work environment. Ability to learn and understand products and production methods. Ability to operate production machinery such as powered screwdrivers, snap and rivet setups, emboss machines, and pad print machines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in general labor roles within a manufacturing setting. Familiarity with mechanical systems or components. Experience using hand tools and power tools in a production environment. Experience in mechanical assembly, line assembly, or general production line work. Experience reading basic blueprints or product specifications. Demonstrated desire for continuous improvement for both personal development and departmental performance. Ability to work overtime, including extended hours and occasional Saturdays, when production demands require it. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing environment that is not fully temperature-controlled but remains comfortable with the support of overhead fans. The position involves working on an active assembly line with frequent walking, bending, reaching, and standing for the full shift. Standard work hours are 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overtime may be required, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, especially during the summer when production volumes increase. The environment includes regular use of hand tools, power tools, and production machinery. Personal protective equipment is required, including safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, and other PPE such as gloves or goggles as specified, to ensure a safe and professional workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Plainfield, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
