Job Description

Position Summary The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision and coordination of production employees and temporary workers on an assigned shift. This role ensures that daily production, safety, quality, and staffing objectives are met while maintaining efficient operations and clear communication across shifts and departments.
Essential Job Functions:
Production & Inspection
  • Direct, supervise, and support production employees and temporary workers to ensure daily production goals are met.
  • Maintain and execute the production schedule to meet customer requirements, quality standards, and delivery deadlines.
  • Monitor machine performance and operator productivity through regular floor presence, observation, and communication.
  • Schedule employees and assign daily work activities based on production demands, staffing levels, and skill sets.
  • Review raw material availability and inventory levels daily to ensure uninterrupted production flow.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production, staffing, quality, or workflow issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all employees are properly trained, cross-trained, and working in compliance with established procedures.
  • Enforce company policies, safety standards, and housekeeping requirements consistently and fairly.
  • Communicate regularly with the Production Manager regarding shift performance, issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Production Planning to align staffing, materials, and machine capacity with production needs.
  • Conduct thorough shift hand-offs with incoming supervisors to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to productivity, safety, quality, and employee engagement. Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all safety policies, including the proper use of required PPE.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with company standards.
  • Immediately report any accidents or near misses, or equipment malfunctions to Plant Manager. Teamwork & Professional Expectations
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, arriving on time and prepared for work.
  • Demonstrate respectful, clear, and professional communication with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Manage time, tasks, and priorities effectively to meet production schedules and deadlines.
  • Produce accurate, thorough, and high-quality work in alignment with company standards.
  • Consistently meet or exceed performance expectations while upholding company values.
  • Participate in required training and demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing production needs. Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to recognize defective or nonconforming products and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Proficiency in the use of tools and equipment such as trimming tools, weight scales, labelers, tape machines, pallet jacks, clippers, knives, and depth gauges.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow verbal and written work instructions in English and Spanish is a plus
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and communicate them to appropriate personnel.
  • Flexibility to remain calm and adapt to changes in production priorities, processes, and scheduling.
  • Ability to identify colors and match products to sample specifications.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including overtime as required. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, push or full products weighing up to 50 lbs. per container.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to safely operate pallet jacks and related equipment.
  • Manual dexterity to handle trimming tools, packaging equipment, and small components. Work Environment
  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
