Job Description
Uncommon Paws is a family-owned company known for creating high-end, handmade dog collars, leashes, harnesses, bandanas, and dog beds , all crafted in our Portland studio. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced seamstress to join our production team. About the
Role:
This is a part-time, in-person position (16 hours/week to start) with potential for growth. You'll play a key role in maintaining our consistent, high-quality production standards , while also supporting the demands of a fast-paced, growing small business. This role reports directly to our Studio Manager .What We're Looking For:
✅ Proven production sewing experience using regular, industrial, and serger machines is mandatory . ✅ Ability to meet production standards while ensuring quality control across all products. ✅ Self-motivated , organized , and efficient — capable of managing your own workload and adapting quickly to shifting priorities. ✅ Comfortable working independently or as part of a team . ✅ A problem solver who can troubleshoot common sewing issues and workflow challenges. ✅ Positive attitude and pride in producing consistent, high-quality work .Key Responsibilities:
Cut and sew fabric for collars, leashes, harnesses, bandanas, and dog beds. Perform basic machine maintenance (threading, tension adjustments, changing needles/bobbins, oiling). Accurately attach labels, woven tags, and hardware to finished products. Maintain clean, detailed, and organized workstations . Support the team in meeting production goals and deadlines , especially for busy seasons or events . Maintain accuracy and consistency with measurements and quality standards. Participate in regular studio upkeep and organization . Willingness to pivot to priority tasks based on studio needs.Requirements:
Minimum 1+ year production sewing experience , including on industrial and serger machines. Fabric cutting experience . Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality . Ability to stand/sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally. Strong time management and communication skills .
