Full-Time Job Overview Backwoods BMP is looking for a Production Systems Specialist to support the full flow of production across the shop. This is a cross-functional role for someone who can step into multiple areas of the business and help keep work moving efficiently from raw material to finished product. This position is not limited to one department. The right person will be capable of assisting in CNC, fabrication, prep/powder, shipping, and general production flow, while also understanding the planning, priorities, and workflow behind each stage. This role is a key part of our cell-style workforce, where every team member has primary ownership in one area but supports the full production system when bottlenecks appear. The Production Systems Specialist helps stabilize that system. What This Role Does Support production wherever help is most needed Step into different stages of the workflow to keep work moving Help identify bottlenecks and overloaded areas in the shop Assist with staging materials, parts, and jobs between departments Fill in for leads when needed Maintain awareness of priorities across the production cycle Help improve organization, efficiency, and communication between stages Learn and understand not just the hands-on work, but also the reasoning, planning, and flow behind each production area Primary Responsibilities Assist CNC operations, fabrication, prep/powder, and shipping as needed Help maintain flow between departments so work does not stall Support production pacing based on shop priorities Communicate clearly with team leads about workload, needs, and blockages Help organize materials, parts, fixtures, and work areas Maintain flexibility and readiness to shift focus throughout the day Learn the standards and expectations of each stage of production Help cover critical functions during absences, surges, or problem areas What We're Looking For Strong work ethic and willingness to adapt Ability to learn multiple production processes Good mechanical awareness and problem-solving ability Organized, dependable, and capable of shifting priorities quickly Able to work well with a team and communicate clearly Comfortable being held to a high standard Not someone who wants to stay in one lane all day Someone who sees problems, responds quickly, and helps solve them Ideal Background Experience in one or more of the following is helpful: CNC support or machine operation Welding or fabrication support Press brake or pipe bend work Prep, sanding, masking, or powder coating support Packaging, shipping, and order fulfillment General manufacturing, shop flow, or production support What Success Looks Like in This Role You can move between areas without needing constant direction You understand shop priorities and support the right area at the right time You help prevent slowdowns before they become bigger problems You keep production moving instead of waiting to be told what to do You become someone the team can rely on across multiple stages of the business Why This Role Matters At Backwoods BMP, we do not operate as isolated departments.
