Cheese Production Assistant (Artisan Food Production)

Assistant Cheesemaker (Food Production) Charlevoix Cheese Company is a family-owned food production business and creamery facility in Charlevoix, Michigan. We craft artisan cheeses on-site using milk from our own herd. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cheese Production Assistant to join our team. As an Assistant Cheesemaker, you will play a crucial role in the cheese production process, helping create high-quality products that meet food safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices. Experience is not necessary, but enthusiasm for physical work in a detail-oriented environment is a must. This position is part-time with a potential for full-time work depending on skillset. • Assist the Cheesemaker in all aspects of high-quality artisanal cheese production
• Perform cheddaring, milling, pressing and packaging of cheese
• Remove cheese from press and clean equipment
• Adhere to sanitation procedures and policies
• Follow and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices
• Work effectively as a team player
• Become familiar with HACCP Qualifications
• Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities
• Positive attitude and willingness to follow instructions
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality
• Must have a minimum high school diploma or equivalent skills by experience
• Must be able to read, interpret and understand written and oral directions
• Must demonstrate basic math skills to calculate production yields, and understand weights and measures
• Interested in learning the art of cheesemaking Work Environment While performing duties of this job, an employee must be able to:
• Lift 50 pounds
• Stand for long periods of time - frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting Benefits
